I descend from two generations of funeral home accountants, so it was no surprise that I later married the funeral home owner's son, a well-known and popular funeral director and mortician. At one time, his family owned five funeral homes in south Mississippi. |
When I was a small child, I remember walks with my Daddy in the cemetery, as he took my hand and taught me the proper way to walk around the graves. Occasionally, he would stop at one of the graves and tell me about the life of the resident. To this day, I continue his tradition of placing flowers at the graves of the same family members we visited on holidays.
My mother taught me to love history and opened the world of genealogy to me. When I came across Find A Grave, I knew it was the perfect medium to capture my love of cemeteries, history, and genealogy. I particularly enjoy walking these cemeteries, taking pictures to preserve for the next generation, and sometimes feeling the same peace I felt when my Daddy took my hand and walked beside me.

I added a picture of the "new" Joseph MAY tombstone. Janice Brock (one of our MAY cousins in Tylertown MS) ordered the tombstone. It will placed in the cemetery this spring/summer by the local DAR chapter. They are also carefully digging through the leaves and brush to hopefully find some of the tombstones there when a census was taken in 1976. ...Doug McBroom (MAY Family)

Thank you for your kind reply.
She sent me a spread sheet many years ago. I am just now able to make the connection, thanks to Ancestry. Thank you for keeping her memory alive, God rest her soul. Lynda

I wonder if you are related to her?
She contacted me 20 years ago about our family history. I am glad to see the fine job you have done on her memorial,

Caroline, thanks for calling my attention to the duplicate memorial for my great-great grandfather, Jesse Amasa Palmer. Thanks to you I found this website and I love it. It has been so helpful to me in my family research and I'm trying to pay it forward by making my contribution, photoing headstones and posting to F.A.G.
Hope you are well.

It's my pleasure to make the corrections and linking the parents. I'm sure you'll see me around in the future when I find more information on my family line, I'll be adding it to the persons memorial. I feel like it'll be way easier for the next person to find their family if I contribute as much information as I can find on my journey...
God Bless, and Thank You!
Thanks Caroline for the transfer!
