I descend from two generations of funeral home accountants, so it was no surprise that I later married the funeral home owner's son, a well-known and popular funeral director and mortician. At one time, his family owned five funeral homes in south Mississippi. |
When I was a small child, I remember walks with my Daddy in the cemetery, as he took my hand and taught me the proper way to walk around the graves. Occasionally, he would stop at one of the graves and tell me about the life of the resident. To this day, I continue his tradition of placing flowers at the graves of the same family members we visited on holidays.
My mother taught me to love history and opened the world of genealogy to me. When I came across Find A Grave, I knew it was the perfect medium to capture my love of cemeteries, history, and genealogy. I particularly enjoy walking these cemeteries, taking pictures to preserve for the next generation, and sometimes feeling the same peace I felt when my Daddy took my hand and walked beside me.

Thank you so much for your reply. The Robert Gill I am Looking for had a very impressive military career. He was an F4 Phantom pilot and flew 200 missions over North and South Vietnam earning many medals, also I believe his parents are buried in Roseland Cemetery. Thanks again, Fran

Caroline can you tell me anything about Robert Gill, memorial # 148544699, that you have just added to Roseland Park Cemetery? I am looking for a person by that name who graduated from Gulfport HS 1959. He was in the Air Force and a veteran of the Vietnum War. I recently found a Col Robert Earl Gill online who died 21 Jun 2015 in Castle Rock CO but there was no information about where he was buried. Thank you, Fran

You're welcome! Thank you for adding the info!
|Robert Miller||Annie Bell (GILMORE) Gunn Her Memorial|
I truly thank you for the transfer of Annie Bell (Gilmore) Gunn. This is a major blessing in My Gilmore Family as well as my husband Bob Miller. My Husband and I are 3rd Cousin's and we never knew that, now in 2015 and back in 2000 we just found out. When we wed. years ago, some of my family said you can not marry Mr. Miller, because both of you are related. We did not think about that at that time, plus I really thought my family was playing jokes and pranks, but as stated in 2000 we really found out, and SO WHAT. 3rd-Cousin's. My point is get over it: HA! HA!
Truly you are a blessing to me and to this site you are a member. Thanks Again.
Martha Miller, Wife of Bob Miller
Thank you so much for adding it. I am trying to add these stories of heroism to the memorials of as many as possible of those who have received the medal. They deserve to be remembered.

I added a picture of the "new" Joseph MAY tombstone. Janice Brock (one of our MAY cousins in Tylertown MS) ordered the tombstone. It will placed in the cemetery this spring/summer by the local DAR chapter. They are also carefully digging through the leaves and brush to hopefully find some of the tombstones there when a census was taken in 1976. ...Doug McBroom (MAY Family)

Thank you for your kind reply.
She sent me a spread sheet many years ago. I am just now able to make the connection, thanks to Ancestry. Thank you for keeping her memory alive, God rest her soul. Lynda

I wonder if you are related to her?
She contacted me 20 years ago about our family history. I am glad to see the fine job you have done on her memorial,
