Bio Photo After a few months of lurking on the site I decided to try to fill some photo requests for my town Colonial era cemetery March 2013. Tough to find with no plot. In the oldest part of the cemetery I found 2 rows of gothic brownstones around 2-3:00 pm and decided to photograph all of them. They were difficult to photograph & read with backlight glare.

Finally one morning I couldn't sleep and managed to get out to the cemetery around 8 am and voilą, the sun hits the face of the stone and all is revealed. I had to get there way before 9 am! I finished photographing the 120 stones and by then I was hooked. I might as well do the whole cemetery. Jan 2014 I printed out the Hale Cemetery Inscriptions and added the names I missed. I finished photographing those stones or getting area pics if the stone was no longer there May 2014.

So the Old Cemetery in East Haven Conn is photographed. See my virtual cemetery of photographic challenges that need a big mirror and a few names I could not find if you want to try your hand at it.

Update: *Old Cemetery in North Haven (Old Center) Started to photograph in 2014. Finished that in April/May 2015 before the many large trees leafed out. Worked off of Hale Cemetery Listing 1933 transcribed by Charles Hale himself. Also had two 1888 inventories to add names. All standing headstones have a photograph or area photos if no longer standing.

*Brandford Center Cemetery, Section A the oldest part of the cemetery, to the right of the road to the office is photographed (Hale 1934 list & modern). Section B, to the left of the road to the office has aprox 270 names need photos plus modern era stones.

Suggest a correction tools I use- whats on the headstone, Family Search for census, Conn State Library collection in Ancestry, especially the Hale Cemetery Inscriptions copied during the 1930's, the Barbour Collection of town vital records, The East Haven Register by Rev. Stephen Dodd pub. 1824, Families of Ancient New Haven by Donald Lines Jacobus & the local libraries. Also a handful of times I've asked for help in the forums and got fantastic results.

Thank you for trying to find his headstone, he was the grandfather of Jesse Metcalfe (American Actor from "John Tucker Must Die") and that me and him are both British Americans.

I can't thank you enough for these photos. This is my second GGF. He was in many battles during the CW, was a POW. He was a member of the GAR which helped many other vets and families. He was buried near his daughters home. She was a nurse, but gave up her nursing career to care for him in his final years. When I saw the grave site many years ago, there were bronze GAR symbols and CW symbols on stakes on each side of the stone.
He did have other children. Thanks again for your time and effort. I have been waiting for years for this photo and you surprised me with more than I hoped for.

Thank you for attempting to locate a marker for CJ, and for posting the photo of the plot. It is very much appreciated.

Thank you for getting this photo. By the way her name does appear with husband on plot headstone. No dates, so thank you for clarifying her exact interment location.
