Digging for ROOTS then exploring the BRANCHES.|
I'm a genealogist (researching our family history since 1996). This is an excellent site to be able to pay tribute to a person by providing a photo of the person & their gravestone plus a bio and key parts of their obit and relationship links to parents, spouse(s) and deceased children and it's FREE. It also allows others who have any relevant information to add it to their memorial. REQUEST - If you have a photo of someone that I have posted on F A G, please consider adding the photo to their memorial or send it to me and I will be happy to add it for you.
Since gravestones have such a high degree of accuracy, a photo can confirm or correct birth & death data. I also provide a link for individuals from our family tree on Rootsweb to their FindAGrave record. This is an excellent way for cemeteries to "give up their dead".
My great grandparents surname are O'Keefe/Kearns, Seitz/Gross, Shaughnessy/Collins & Blondin/Richard. My wife's great grandparents are Krapf/Ferbert, McGregor/McCracken, Remaklus/Knieper & Minnich/Lescher. And then for our grandson we added these surnames Leipold/Knauer, Loomis/Freeman, Greer/Nelson, Henry/Hunter, Saunders/Page & Woodworth/Snow.
There are 4233 memorials with photos, 98% headstones, and another 377 memorials that need photos added; who have been found or added from my extended family tree thanks to a great group of volunteers.
Trying to give back to FindAGrave and all who use it for all F A G has provided:
I have worked with my wife's cousin to set up memorials at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Bryant, IN for the 500+ headstone photos she took of headstones in the cemetery;
Set up @ 800 memorials at St. Peter's Cemetery in North Ridgeville, OH from an out of print book of gravestones from the cemetery;
Michelle Davis and I worked from 4,500+ death notices in the Cleveland papers to add memorials for those buried at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, OH. This was a big job. Michelle volunteered to help me with this project and has made an invaluable contribution towards its completion. Thanks Michelle.
I have added @ 85 memorials for deceased Notre Dame nuns at Resurrection Cemetery on the grounds of the Motherhouse in Chardon.
I have set up many memorials for people not related to me in any way and would be happy to transfer to any relative or friend willing to maintain their memorial.
The Pending Edits page link s/b added to contributor tools.

|William||Joseph Morman Balla|
You have a memorial for a Joseph "Morman" Balla (1905-1973), memorial # 92275055. On it, you state that he was the "beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Benve)." Do you know where you got her maiden name from? I have been searching for her parents, and I suspect her maiden may have been Benyo.

John and Rose Shearer are buried in sec 77 lot 1018 NOT sec 4 lot 77.
|Patricia Holloway||Carl Schmitt|
I could not locate a marker for Carl or Monica in sec 4 lot 314. I checked with the office and was told that they did not have a record for Carl or Monica Schmitt then she checked under the spelling Schmidt and found a record for Monica in sec 4 lot 314 (no marker) and Carl Henry Schmidt sec 77 lot 2163 gr 3 he has a military marker E1 US Navy with dates May 18, 1893-Mar 29, 1954. Let me know what you want to do.
|Cindy Kurpely||RE: Lindens in Spencer Cemetery|
No problem. Glad to do it!
|Robert Comeau||RE: Adélina LaCroix|
Adélina LaCroix is the great grandmother of my cousin. I got the marker number and plat number from the office. I search for a period of 20 minutes at that spot to be sure. My cousin had warned me that there was no marker. Glad you like the general view of the correct row of their burial location.
|shryockke||Sarah Evans Knight|
No. Sarah's father is Daniel Knight.
Her middle name for some reason is Evans.
Three of her sons, John, Daniel, and William, have the middle name of Knight, her maiden name.
Compendium of American Genealogy, Vol. IV, p.626 : lists her as Sarah Evans Knight (not that that source is 100 percent accurate every time, but it is a source.)
Also, Joseph Grundy Shryock, grandson of Sarah Evans Knight, when he applied to become a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, lists her name as Sarah Evans Knight.
If she had been married to a Mr. Evans, her name would be listed as Sarah Knight Evans instead of Sarah Evans Knight since Knight is her maiden name.

If Catharine is not related to you, I would appreciate you transferring her Memorial to me.
Thank you in advance,
|Graves||RE: Edna Holden at West Laurel Hill Cemetery|
Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I don't know her birth/death dates but I've added the names of others buried at that location to her bio - maybe that will help.

Thanks for the obit. My nephew's wife is a Zalokar descendant and I'm poking around for her.
