When I began researching my family tree in 2003, I was amazed at how many resources were available online. Nearly ten years later, I continue to be pleased when more and more becomes available. While most of my family immigrated to New York and New Jersey and spent their lives there, most of my husband's family immigrated to Virginia and the Carolinas and migrated across the southern states to Texas and up to Oklahoma. It would be impossible to follow their steps in person across the country.|
Along the way, I discovered Find A Grave. I found a few family members, added a few others, and requested photos from far away. Wanting to return the favor, I became a photo volunteer to help families who live far from me. It's been a great trip.
I am glad to seek out old or new graves in local cemeteries. I avoid isolated cemeteries and those that are overgrown. I add memorials when I can, especially adding family members as I go along.
I am always glad to transfer memorials to family. You can request a transfer by going to the memorial page and clicking on the Edit tab. Select "Suggest a correction or provide additional information." If you would simply like to suggest a family link or add a date to a memorial without a transfer, follow the same steps.
If you think you're a Cousin, I'm always glad to meet seconds, thirds or more. By all means, contact me. Here are some family names I research: Fahr, Hartbrecht, Botsch, Roepke, Clancy, Rout, Knight, Brooks; Gill, Barto, Teel, Mosley, Wright.

|J. Binder||RE: Reuben Brooks # 118645000|
Sandi - The burial information came from the Sons of the American Revolution. (The grave register source is noted on the memorial.) The same SAR grave register also shows a Reuben Brooks with similar dates of birth/death buried at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Windsor Vermont. (See memorial #118644920) I do descend from a Brooks line, but do not know if I am related in any way to a Reuben Brooks; if I am, he is not in my direct line. Hope this is helpful.

I have created duplicate memorials & don't know how it happened. But the memorial numbers were off by only 1 digit. Some computer glitch ???
I have just started to work on the St. Peter's UCC Cemetery. Several hundred burials on the UCC property are listed in the Lutheran Cemetery on findagrave. Getting those corrected will be a tough chore!
|Dan Oh||RE: The McDonalds|
There are three names on the stone. Alice who was married to LILE (the name next to her on the right side of the stone) and Lila, who is across the bottom, she is the daughter of Alice and Lile.
The stone says Alice McDonald; that is because she is buried with here second husband, Lyle/Lile McDonald. Her third husband was Joseph Basista
Above is her obituary under her THIRD husband's name. So if you read her obituary and the subsequent Divorce Decree, you'll see all the husbands on her page. I have links sent in to Gina and Lila's obit as well.
If you look at the above URL, you see her first husband and second husband linked to her. I haven't found Joseph Basista yet, but when I do, he'll be linked as well.
So, having said that, I think putting your photo on the url above, and deleting yours will alleviate the duplicate.
The multiple marriages has really added to the confusion.

|Vickie Teel Doswell||RE: Teel Family?|
I am the person that set up the Facebook page in hopes of finding out more about my father's family. I know a little but my mother and father divorced in 1953 and I spent very little time with them. I would appreciate any and all information you would be willing to share with me. My email address is email@example.com

I,m so sorry but we had several request for photo's in that area and no one was doing them, so we just set down on the cemetery and went to work doing stone photo's.
When I find a stone without a memorial I make one in hopes that family will find them. If you want the memorial I don't mind, just give me your member number and the memorial number in an email and I'll be happy to transfer to you. Then if you find something you want to add you can without going to a second party.
My photo's are there to be used please feel free.

Don't know a thing about John and Hannah or any children! I think I cropped out their marker from another photo I had taken for one of my lines. So I added them to Find A Grave 9 yrs ago! I looked back thru my old photos, but could not find one that had them in the background, although I did not the lot and plot on their Find A Grave record!
Hope you had a good 4th!

I just figured out how to make my own changes so disregard my request. Thanx - Judy

I had no idea I could make changes myself. I just looked at her memorial but don't see how to make the changes myself. Could you walk me thru the process. Thanx
Good job on Mt. Zion! I stopped over my parents last weekend and that cemetery is on the way. I photographed half of a section there - as you come in the entrance, bear to the left, and on the right-hand side the mound of grass there. (it extends all the way down if you follow the road, where you'd have to turn left or right). I was hoping to run into you! One of these days hopefully we can meet up there.
