I started doing full photographic inventories of cemeteries in St. Lawrence county NY back in 1999 and have about 165 cemeteries inventoried and online on my home page (see link below). I have copied the listings over to find-a-grave and am working on getting all the photos uploaded here as well. Its a slow process, so if you don't find what you are looking for here, check to see if I have it on my other site. Please don't add the pictures from my website to find-a-grave yourself. If you find a picture on my site that you would like added to find-a-grave, just send me an email or leave me a message and I'll be happy to add them. |
I also live near Washington DC from November thru April so for the last 7+ years I have taken photos in Arlington National Cemetery. However, I am no longer participating in filling requests in Arlington. Unfortunately, over the last three years or so it has become quite unpleasant due to a few other "volunteers". I no longer want to deal with their disregard for rules, use of multiple ID's to capture and block requests, and the abuse and harassing emails to new volunteers and to me. It's made me feel very negative towards what I always considered one of the most honorable, respectful, serene, and to me, sacred locations in the world. I'm hoping to get that feeling back and do hope to still visit Arlington National Cemetery as often as I can.
If you would like to take-over ownership of any memorials I've created for your family members just let me know. I'd be happy to transfer them to you. I have lots of information on most of them so I will take a few minutes to add it (in case you don't have it), but after that, you can update it as you want.

Thanks so very much for transferring Carson and Charie. The James family is an important part of my wife's ancestry.
Warm regards, Alan
|Northern Neighbors||Hi Anne|
I am so sorry in reading your profile page that you have lost some of you heart while contributing here at Find A Grave.
How well I remember your helpfulness and your own website many years before I ever heard of Find A Grave.
Northern New York took a huge leap forward in shared information because of your gravestone inventories - and with photos and much more!
I was pleased and honored that you also took requests for Arlington, knowing I would get a beautiful photo of my grandfather's resting spot when you claimed my request for a photo. I want you to know that meant so much to me - and from someone I always found to be so helpful and kind.
I wish you well and further wish you "all happiness". Know that you have left an indelible mark with your efforts and will continue to do so in whatever you do. The sun shines on you. :)
