I started doing full photographic inventories of cemeteries in St. Lawrence county NY back in 1999 and have about 175 cemeteries inventoried and online on my home page (see link below). I have copied the listings over to find-a-grave and am working on getting all the photos uploaded here as well. Its a slow process, so if you don't find what you are looking for here, check to see if I have it on my other site. Please don't add the pictures from my website to find-a-grave yourself. If you find a picture on my site that you would like added to find-a-grave, just send me an email or leave me a message and I'll be happy to add them. |
I lived most of my life in the Washington DC area where I have taken photos for about 8 years. I recently moved to Colorado to be closer to my family, but still try to get back to the DC area every now and then. However, I am no longer participating in filling requests in Arlington. Over the last three - four years it has become quite unpleasant due to a couple other "volunteers", which was a major factor in finally convincing me to move from the DC area. I will still be visiting Arlington and photographing markers as often as I can get there. Currently, I'm trying to get a few hundred photos added for markers in the cemetery each week from photos I have taken previously . I just won't be claiming requests there since I can no longer deal with the harassment and I want to regain the feeling of dignity and serenity that I used to have each time I walked into the cemetery. It is one of the most honorable, respectful, serene, and to me, sacred locations in the world .
If you would like to take-over ownership of any memorials I've created for your family members just let me know. I'd be happy to transfer them to you, but please realize that in general, edits can be made by using the edit tab on the memorial without any need for transfer of management. That said, while in the past I never turned down a transfer request, recent actions on some memorials I transferred have caused me to very rarely decline a transfer. I may decline when the requester republishes recent obituaries without permission from the publisher (in violation of item 3 of the site "Terms of Service"), creates duplicate or burial unknown memorials (in violation of the site rules), or adds inappropriate biographies which to me include biographies that are NOT about the person, but solely about their husband, ancestors, graphic details of their death, or about the history of the plane/ship/etc they served on.

Thank you so much for filling this request!
Thank you so much for filling this request!
A somewhat tardy thanks to you for taking this photo. I was out of the country for three weeks, and fell behind on my emails.
I appreciate your help!

Thank you so much for taking the photo per my request of Hugh Campfield in Arlington National. He fits into my family tree, however not blood related. Appreciate your efforts so much. Anne Henderson Rupert (my dad also in Arlington)

Sometimes my involvement on this site is depressing; as in this case. Thanks for all you do.

I have added your photo - with credit - of PFC. Jahr's tombstone at Arlington National Cemetery to a memorial page for the men of Nutley, N.J., who died in service.
Here is a link to the page.
I am in the process of updating about 350 memorial pages for fallen soldiers from two New Jersey towns. So much more information is available since I started the project in 2000.
