This is a wonderful hobby - I enjoy walking different cemeteries - taking photos - researching - and adding to the information on Find a Grave. |
- I appreciate edits and the additional information they add to memorials. I will check any suggested edits & request more information if I can't verify the information
- use any photos any where & any way you wish - except on FAG. Please add this to the photo caption "Used with the written permission of Jeni (#47733487) at FindaGrave" If you have a better photo, I'll delete upon request.
- generally happy to transfer memorial (if I am not related) Please let me know your connection.
PLEASE PLEASE do NOT add a photo of an obituary to any of the memorials I've made. Please paraphrase it, add the source and then use the last edit option to send it to me. I LOVE having the information from an obituary - it helps with maiden names and linking as well as rounding out the memorial. BUT, please don't add it as a photo. I'll add your contributor # to the source unless you request I don't.
I am currently working off a wonderful database developed by THE TROY IRISH GENEALOGY SOCIETY for St. Josephs Waterford cemetery. When I'm done (in several years) I plan on adding photos. I prefer to add one by one rather than uploading a database as I can make links more effectively.

|Susan||found Arlene Cole Terwilliger's father|
I found the father of Arlene Terwilliger 155063605.
He didn't run off, he died. The social security info had his first name mis-spellled.
His memorial is 54670824, I will send info via edit

I don't need a transfer. Arlene is several cousins away from me, but I've been helping other distant cousins track the family. If they want a transfer to them (they're in the same line), I'll let you know. One thing I'm good at is genealogy. And this one, with all the missing/disappeared husbands, dead mothers, step siblings, etc, has been a Mount Everest.
Arlene died 21 years before Frederick (17376773), and I'm not sure which of the daughters mentioned in his obituary are hers. If I ever track them down, I'll let you know.
FYI, Arlene was born 19 June, 1921 in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, NY. She died in Oct 1978, probably in Schenectady, NY, but I'm not 100% sure of the location.
She graduated from Lynch High School, Amsterdam, NY in 1939. I have her yearbook picture. She was adorable.
Arlene and Frederick were married in Watervliet, New York, on Oct 31, 1943.

Source of her father's first name is social security claims file on ancestry.
Also her marriage to Frederick Terwilliger in 1943 (Amsterdam, NY Evening Recorder, 9 Nov 1943), and 1930 and 1940 censuses, showing her in the household of her maternal grandmother, Ada Sanford Wheaton Boyden, all or any which I'd be happy to send you via email

Thanks for getting in touch with me.
Arlene Ada Terwilliger was the daughter of Courtland Cole and Madeline Wheaton.
Madeline married Courtland first, then married Frank Swart
I put in a correction on Madeline's maiden name (Boyden was the name of her stepfather), but it hasn't gone through
This is a VERY confusing family.
Thanks for checking, I should have written you a note about the parentage/maiden name thing.
Arlene's mother Madeline's memorial is 125324338
I haven't a clue where her father is, he appears to have left the picture when she was just a baby.

Thank you for the wonderful stone photos. Very much appreciated.

You're welcome. Short of ordering his birth certificate, I haven't been able to pinpoint Percy Adams' place of birth to my satisfaction. Some of the sources say Windham and the rest say Ashland. The two towns border each other. His family lived in North Settlement, which straddles both towns, so perhaps he wasn't sure himself.

Hi Jeni, Many thanks for obtaining and uploading a photo of the grave marker for the above two persons at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery at Niskayuna. Your work is much appreciated
