Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my mother's family, the Suttons of Vermont, for the past three and a half years. Our Suttons originated in Lincolnshire County, England, with cavalier Thomas Sutton, who came to Hempstead, Long Island, New York, in 1647. His descendants and close relatives lived in Greenwich, Connecticut on the Byram River and New Castle in Westchester County. In 1788, my fourth great grandfather, Benjamin Sutton 1st, came with his wife, Jamima Van Wart, cousin of Isaac Van Wart, of Elmsford, his mother, Sarah, and brother James and his wife, Deborah Merritt, to St. George, Vt. Benjamin & Jamima then went to the present Dorset Street in Shelburne where they parented 14 children. From Benjamin and James descend all the Suttons of Vermont and from Benjamin, the New York Suttons who descend from Benjamin, Jr., William, and Luther, all of whom went to Louisville Landing, N.Y. on the St. Lawrence River, in 1836.

Paul, wow that was a fast response to my photo request! Thanks so very much for taking the time to go and find it and take the photo. It is much appreciated by this relative who lives out of state.

Thanks for the photograph
My sincere thanks for your help with the headstone photograph.
The source records I was using had dates all over the place.
This definitely cleared things up.
Warmest regards

Okay, here is what I found. Sarah's maiden name was Blair. Sarah and Eri also had a son named Frank B. Ingraham born in 1859 who married Emily Smith Reid on 09 Sep 1896 in Mass. Sarah's parents were John Blair and her mom's maiden name was Sterling. She died 11 Mar 1904 in Worcester, Mass.

Hi Paul,

I somehow missed your last message until I cleaned up my spam folder today and found it. Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your most recent effort to locate a marker for Charles a few weeks ago.

Thank you once more for your time and energy spent in the attempt to locate him for me. It is mystifying how his obit states he is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, and yet there is no cemetery office record to be found of him by any of the possible three surnames by which he may be identified.

I will be scratching my head over this one for quite some time to come. If I ever make any progress with it, I will be sure to let you know.

In the meanwhile, take care.

Best regards,

Pam Acquaviva Kalbfleisch

Holy smokes, Paul, this might have put you in harm's way, didn't it? Still, thank you so much for taking the photo which shows the inscription beautifully at my end.

Thank you. There is NO rush on this, just whenever you're in the area.

Joseph Taft in Pioneer
Thank you for clarifying the Joseph Taft/Shelton issue. I requested the memorial for Joseph Taft be deleted (along with a few others created from the information on the Ontario genweb site, which has a few errors). You previously said there was a monument for Joseph Shelton. When you get a chance, can you upload it to his memorial? Thanks.
