Cushwa Photos
DorseyH,
My name is Shauna Fleming and I am a descendant of Isaiah, John, David, and Benjamin Cushwa. I have been so excited to see all the grave stone pictures you have provided to the Find A Grave site that has helped me trace my ancestors! Thank you. I know that this requires time and effort on your part and I appreciate it very much as it would be impossible for me to go to these places myself. I am writing to seek your permission to post some of your photos on Family Search. I would give you credit as the photographer and give the Find A Grave Memorial number with each one. If this is okay with you I think it would help with some of the misinformation that is currently on the site as people would be able to actually see the headstones and refer them to the site to see all the wonderful information that is provided there. Please let me know if this is agreeable to you or not. I appreciate you time on this matter.

RE: Lydia Catrow
You are welcome. Glad to have been of some help to you. I still need to find Elizabeth for you. I keep thinking the book at the library said that she was in an unmarked grave, but I will see what I can do to get a photo of at least the area she is laid to rest.

Have a great day!

photo of David M. Thatcher grave/tombstone - Prometheus Studios
Hi Dorsey,

I'm a researcher for Prometheus Studios, a television production company in Los Angeles, CA. We're currently working on a special about the American Civil War. One of our editors was interested in possibly using an image of confederate soldier David M. Thatcher in our show and we'd like to obtain an image of his tombstone to supplement the image we have of him from the Library of Congress. I noticed you have an image of his tombstone on the "find a grave" website...posted by BIRDMAN. Do you maintain the images on the "find a grave" website? Would you be interested in allowing us to possibly use your image in our show? If so, email me at rick.george@prometheuspix.com and let me know. We'd have to get the high res version of the image in-house as soon as possible though. Any help you can give would be wonderful! Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon. Have a great day!

Cheers,

Rick George - Researcher

RE: Catrow - Germantown Cemetery
You are welcome.

The book at the library shows Lydia Catrow to be unmarked and I couldn't find a listing for Elizabeth Catrow that died in 1877. I will have to go to the cemetery office to see if they have record of her and also the location of both of them. The book showed Lizzie (d. 1923) was suppose to be in the first row in the section where M. and Eliza Catrow is in. The only marker I saw was for "Mother" with no dates. So I just took a photo of the area where she is buried. I am sorry I couldn't find an actual marker for her.

Also, the book showed Charles (d. 1889) was a child and is an unmarked grave. The other Charles (d. 1862) doesn't even show in the book. I was trying to get a photo of all the Catrow families buried there for you. I will see what I can do to get the rest of the photos.

Thank you for your patience.

Have a great week.

Catrow - Germantown Cemetery
Dorsey,

I was at the library yesterday and found a film on George C. Catrow and his diaries. There was a news article on it about him, his diary entries, two photos, and some of his ancestry information. I only scanned the article, the two photos, one page of his diary, and the information on his ancestry. If you would like to have it, let me know and we can figure out I can get it to you.

George C. Catrow was Peter Catrow's son, if that helps any.

I couldn't find Elizabeth listed in the Germantown/Jackson County cemeteries readings. I will have to go to the cemetery to find the locations of them. The M. Catrow is Middleton Catrow. I believe there is a photo of his gravestone on Elizabeth E. Catrow's memorial# 67851306.

It might take a little while for me to get back to you. My computer is down and I have to use someone elses. I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Hope this helps,

Becky

Private Question
Hi DorseyH,

Your information on this site has really be a great help to me in my research. I had a question for you that I was hoping to ask via e-mail about a mutual relative that would be your cousin, if I've done my math correctly. If you can reach out to me at devin.gaither@gmail.com that'd be great! Thanks so much!

Hello DorseyH!

I've been doing a lot of genealogy research and I hit a bump a while back that I never thought I'd be able to get past. My parents are divorced and the records for my dad's birth don't match up because his "father" was away in the service at the time of his conception. My mom always suspected that she knew what the surname of his biological father was... but we were never sure and it isn't something that is acknowledged in his family. I ran across your site, saw that you were researching the surname my mom has always suspected... and what do you know. I found a picture of a man who looks exactly like my father and his birth date and location match up perfectly. Thank you so much for having this information up and available :-)
