Hi Julie,

Thanks for trying to fill my photo request. According to the Hale collection Hermoine is buried there with a son named Barney. Charles Hale catalogued cemetery headstones in the 1930's so he must have found them at that time.

My guess is that they are both buried there but their stones are no longer around.

Thomas & Nancy Ward
Thanks so much for taking the time to search for headstones for my g-g-grandparents, Thomas & Nancy Ward. I had been to the cemetery years ago - before I had found their obits - and found the stone for Nancy's father, Barnard Davey.

I so appreciate your help!

Benjamin Prather - d. 1838
YES!... Looks like the one. He was the grandson of the Aaron Prather for whom the obelisk was erected in 1866. Dates make more sense, now. I have b. abt 1800, but who would quibble over a few years...:-)

Mary Ward
Thanks so much for the extra effort in looking for the grave of my ancestor, Mary Ward. I appreciate the explanation you offered so I will know the likely disposition of her gravesite. I agree... such a shame!! I am a volunteer in southern Maine. If there is anything I can do to repay the favor, please let me know.

Hi Julie,
I wanted you to know that I went to investigate the location of "Potter Field" at the Psychiatric Center in Kings Park. It is a massive facility with hundreds of acres and no signs!
Most of the building are in ruins and have plans to be demo'd.
I drove around & spoke to anyone that I saw walking on the grounds & asked where the cemetery was, but no one knew!
After 2 hrs of searching the grounds, I decided to call it quits for the day but at the last minute I pulled into a local pub on Flynn Rd,which skirts the grounds of the hospital. Sure enough someone was able to explain to me how to find the graveyard, but I would have to walk thru the woods in an unmarked area. So I will make another trip and go back to see if I can find the plot.
I think it would be helpful for you to "google" Kings Park Psychiatric Center and read their page on the cemetery. As you will see, most of the graves only have "numbered markers" and no tombstones.
It think it would take incredible luck to find an actual headstone for her. Would you know what her number was?
I also found out that the records for the cemetery are now kept at Pilgrim State Psychiatric Hospital, but they will only release information to the family? Perhaps you could contact them to get the number and then I would be happy to try to find her marker.
My apologize for this long message.

Battey Family Cemetery
Julie:

I updated the memorial you sent a correction for. Also, I went into the state d/b and populated the cemetery with all that is there (?) at least by the inventory back in 1995.

More Battey, Brownwell and Tillson - if you want any of them, please let me know.

Rick
