Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial, then click on "Suggest a correction or provide additional information". Be sure to give me the other person's ID number when requesting links.|
One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.
Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to whom. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.
Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names.
Beck - Bethel (Boone Co.) - Bethel (52nd St Indy) - Browns Wonder - Jones
Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union
Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-30, 34N & 34S) - Pleasant Hill (Indy)
Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Richland - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem
Sparks - Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville
I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 2272 x 1704 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave the file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 3000 and now 8000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

Thank you so much for the tombstone photos of Samuel Scott Boyd & Monimia Bunnell Boyd.

Hi Marc...Thanks for updating the Plummer Memorial. I took a look at your relatives as I am also connected to Edward & Samuel Doty. Samuel's son Joseph had a daughter Sarah Doty who married into the Badgley family. Six generations later a James Badgley married a Mary Jane Apple.
James Badgley is buried in the Mock Cemetery in Oaklandon, Lawrence Township, Marion County.
#66868827. Mary Jane Apple (Hastings) (Badgley) (Bolander) outlived 3 husbands with a total of 7 children (that are known of).
You will probably recognize the name William Taber from Find A Grave, he is also connected to the Doty family.

|Jim Thomas||Henry Doty burial location|
I thought I'd let you know that Henry Doty is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery in lot N-227, not Laurel Grove. Apparently, he was originally buried in Laurel Grove and then reinterred in Bonaventure in 1914. I had a note from another contributor that the same thing happened to John Morris Doty.
There is a correct Find A Grave site for Henry Doty that shows him buried at Bonaventure. I would suggest you delete the Laurel Grave site since it's incorrect. I took pictures today of the Doty plot and will add them to all of the Doty Find A Grave sites in Bonaventure.
|Dale Steele||RE: James M. Steele|
James is my great grandfather's younger brother so I don't have direct information on his birth date. I got it off of Kentucky Birth Records some time ago. I never saw his death certificate so I had no reason to question the transcription. I just pulled it up and looked it over and to be honest, the date of birth in unreadable. I enhanced it the best I could and can only make out the year 1876. It's not listed chronologically so that doesn't help either. I'm guessing poor transcription and would stick with what his family knew to be his birth date of May 18.
As for the county of birth it is most definitely Whitley County and not Jackson County. The birth records are from Whitley and I do know my family didn't move to Jackson County until about 1878 or 1879. I'm sure his family may not have known that since he had lived in Jackson County from a very early age.
Thanks for the effort on his memorial. I get to the Hamilton area quite often and will stop at the cemetery on my next trip and see if I can locate the gravestone for a photo.

I believe there is a mistake on the spouse for this man. It lists Ray Collins, who was the actor who played Lt. Tragg on the old Perry Mason series. Yet Rickets' headstone indicates his spouse was Minnie. Thank you for your work on these memorials.

He is my husband's 3rd great grand Uncle. May I use his gravestone photo in our Family Tree? I will gladly give you credit. Thank you so much, Terry
