Bio and Links
Bio Photo In the 1980's I started researching my Linn ancestors (without benefit of computer) but got busy with my sons' activities and put it on hold. In 1999 a cousin got me involved with my Steinberg ancestors and I have been going full speed ahead ever since.

Upon graduating from the University of Illinois my father obtained employment in the State of Washington, far from any relatives. My ancestors (after entering the USA)settled in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey - I want to experience first hand where and how they lived so I travel the country obtaining data, meeting people, seeing the sights and tramping cemeteries. I missed the "cousin experience" growing up and think that is why I enjoy genealogy so much -- meeting new cousins (who cares if they are 1st or 10th cousins)and sharing our family histories.

I am researching Linn, Gibson, Weir, Scott, Polk, Steinberg, Koerner, Mitten, Bennett, Switzer (Swisher), Slonaker, Shaw, Goff, Townsend, McCarty and Whitehead, Miller, Schroen, Glabe, Schafer/Schaefer/Shafer. I am also reseaching Dishon, Deshon, DeShon, Deschamps and Herrold for my two sons.

RE: Vaunghn Bay Cemetery
Coming from Shelton, proceed past Allyn but take the cutoff that says "Tacoma." This is just past Allyn to the north. Keep the water to the right of you. This is called E. North Bay Road and it turns into Hwy. 302. Turn right on Wright Bliss Road KPN. From here, I can direct you no farther. I think you should ask someone working in their yard, or walking outside, because I don't remember the names of the streets. But you will be close to the cemetery. It is located on a hillside and overlooks the water, also known as Case Inlet. Good luck. Maybe let me know when and if you find it.

Edna's maiden name was Fishback and in 1930 she was living in Fresno with her parents. I don't have their exact marriage date, however, in 1940 she was married to Robert Doane living in Oakland, California with their son Edward born Dec. 1935. My guess would be that their marriage took place in about 1934 or 1935 most likely in Fresno, California but I do not have documentation for that.

RE: Carl Henry Bernhard
Nope, no other Bernhards were nearby.
Do you know what happened to Marjorie? There are only three in the OR death index and none of them appear to be her by any stretch of the imagination.
There is a Majorie in the CA death index 1920-1995, born in WA. Died in S.F., CA. Maiden name Edmondson.
Any chance that is her? If it is maybe she got buried in S.F. and so did Benjamin??

OK, I had something to eat and layed down and watched TV a while so am recovering from having too much fun today now. :-]
I sent the locations as edits so all you have to do is push your "magic button" to do the locations.

RE: Carl Henry Bernhard
I found their graves today. They are indeed buried beside each other as you said. There is another one there by them too.
Muriel Irene Bernhard 1908-1991
Do you know who she is?
Nobody has ever made a page for her on Find A Grave yet. Do you want to do that or do you want me to?
If you do it could you put in a request for pictures of her grave too?
If I don't get the pictures processed and ready to add to their pages tonight I will most likely get it done tomorrow. I am pretty pooped right now.

RE: Carl Henry Bernhard
There is a Hillcrest section, Hillcrest extension section, Hilltop section and a Hillside section.
The Hillside section is a real old section and I don't think there is a single person in that section who died as soon ago as 1965 as Carl did.
So, Carl is probably in either in Hilltop or Hillcrest section.
That narrows it way down a lot. I can find that easy.
I can only ask the cemetery for just a very few location look ups per week for Find A Grave and I already have more requests for next week then I can ask for locations for.
So this helps. I won't have to ask for a location on this one. Yayyyy.
I am going back up to the cemetery tomorrow so I will take a look for him and hopefully Helen is interred by him.

Carl Henry Bernhard
You put in a request for pictures of Carl Bernhard and his wife's graves.
Where did you get the grave location from that you put on Carl's page, Lot 71, space 1?
There are about 36 sections in this cemetery, each of which has a Lot 71 in them.

Clara May (Linn) Wagoner, Jackson
Jan I have found a duplicate of Clara May (Linn) Wagoner. May be are all ready aware of this. Memorial #78521453 is listed in the Cimarron Kansas Cemetery, this is not correct.
My great grandmother is actually buried in Hutchinson Kansas Memorial# 121840924. I did try to contact the creator, but was unable to. I saw that you posted a photo and have corresponded with you in the past on our Linn families. I have never seen a younger photograph of Granma Clara before! Where did you find such a great picture? Thanks!!

RE: Augusta Bennett
Ok, thank you. I remember her dearly, she was 12 years older than my grandpa. We visited and since she didn't have enough bed, my sister and I slept on the cushions of the couch on the floor. Sister got 1 cushion and I got 2. I was bigger and older.
