Bio Photo The Recording of a Cemetery

BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Baldwin at New Prospect/Monroe County, Ms.
Mr. Red,

I noticed on the Find A Grave memorial #105918560 Alvis O. Baldwin, questions if Sybil Marie Bowman Baldwin is his wife...yes, she is. Her dates are 12-15-1913 Marion County, Alabama and 8-5-2003 Columbus, Ms.

Also, her and Mr. Alvis have two children buried at Prospect, is it possible to connect them? They are - Gordon Gayron Baldwin #105919703, and Kenneth Stanley Baldwin #46667103.

Also, Trannie Edgar Baldwin #105916553 and Nora Lee Young Baldwin #105918164 are the parents of Alvis O. Baldwin #105918560, Arthur Bo Baldwin #105920647 and Robert Monroe Baldwin #105921296.

I appreciate you!

Janice.

Luther Richey
Red,
I noticed that you have taken photos as Mount Gilead Cemetery. I am looking for Luther Richey son b 30 Nov 1910 d Abt 06 Jul 1915. He was the son of John Sebron Richey and Bertha Anna Rakestraw Richey. I would love to find a grave marker for him and I think Mt. Gilead is the most likely. If a marker exists I would like to request a photo if you have time.

Thank you in advance.

I would really appreciate if you are going to post information about my parents you would at least get the information correct. My father was born December 5, 1913, not 1915. My mother died August 27, 1994, not 1974. Thus far, I looked up my parents, my wife and my mother-in-law's and none were completely accurate. This site along with those contributing need to get the information like this correct in order to honor those who have gone before us, not just post whatever they feel like....
