Bio Photo IMPORTANT NOTICE: Over the years I have left hundreds of memorial notes on Confederate veteran's FindAGrave memorial pages, using a particular Confederate Flag as a symbol. Recently I discovered that flag had been replaced with flowers. If you see one of my memorial messages left on a memorial page with flowers instead of the flag, please notify me so that I can make the appropriate changes.

Sons of Confederate Veterans Compatriot - Camp No. 1921 - The Tallassee Armory Guards.

Please feel free to use/share photographs and other historical information I've posted to memorials.

The Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society has endorsed FindAGrave and as a member of that society I have visited many cemeteries and added graves/memorials on its behalf.

I manage several hundred memorials in Chambers County, AL that Hank Rogers transferred over to me before he became inactive with F.A.G.

Also, most of the very old newspaper items on my memorials are through the courtesy of F.A.G. Member #47182102 who has painstakingly transcribed volumes of "The LaFayette Sun", the official newspaper of Chambers County, Alabama.

Hi Don, Um! I know you are right. I guess I was thinking that your comment about Hank's being transferred to you meant you had access to all of his in some way or the other. Now that I have reread your comment, I understand. I will send an email to Find A Grave or do it through the forum. I know you must think that I am crazy, I am just usually busy, busy when I write you and so often don't even make sense to MYSELF. Sorry for the request. Thanks for all you do to preserve our ancestors in East Alabama. Take care, Pam

Flint Cemetery - Lee County
Please delete these memorials in Flint Methodist Cemetery in Lee County. Hank was never able to find the markers, but Norman took photos this week and since Hank is no longer active he added 2 new memorials. Thus making Hanks duplicates.

The memorials to delete are 92732890 Unknown Vinson and 92732875 Unknown Ray.

I could not make the edit request on the memorials because of Hanks status on these two.

Thanks so much! Pam Smith

RE: Celety Shipp
Thank you for responding to me I appreciate it. Her maiden surname is George. Celeta is actually her proper first name and Celety is the nickname. When I made the suggestion to enter her maiden surname I must have put it in the wrong spot. Please accept my apology. I hope you will include George as her maiden surname. Celeta was my 3rd great-grandmother.

Old Sharon (or Sharon) Church
Good Morning Don, would you happen to have or know where I can find any church records for "Old Sharon" Church in Tallapoosa County? Norman has a Satterwhite that married a Hicks that is buried in that cemetery and he is working on a little bio on the cemetery for Tap Roots? Just thought I would ask you because you are our "Church" reference locally. Thanks so much, Pam Smith

RE: William Graggs
I went back into my old notes for this fellow and found that the "P" as a middle initial came from a WorldConnect Gedcom Project submission! It, of course, gives no documentation to prove it. The Alabama Land Grant records show a William RICHARDS Gragg registering lands in Chambers County, but there is no way to know if this is MY ancestor or who exactly it is. So, the mystery continues.

His only son by his first wife, Joseph POST Graggs, my ancestor who later changed his name to Griggs, had the middle initial "P". His oldest son by his second wife was William P. Graggs, but so far I haven't seen him referred to as "Jr." in any records. So, for now, we'll just have to let it go until something concrete shows up.
