I have been researching since 1992. Geraldine McKinnie Weir (1932-2002), my father's cousin, taught me so much about genealogy. I really miss my dear cousin and friend Geraldine. In 1994, Geraldine helped me become a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. I now have 13 DAR ancestors, and I established two of the ancestors. My DAR ancestors are John Cole, Jesse Cook, John Garrard, William Barron, John Barron, 2nd Lt. Miles Gathright, Ensign Walter Poole, Major Croom, Zadock Bussey, George Bussey, Josiah Norris, James Patrick and Captain James Green.|
In 1993, Geraldine found our Mayflower ancestors Stephen Hopkins and Giles Hopkins. Stephen Hopkins was a Signer of the Mayflower Compact. Stephen Hopkins was also to Jamestown, Virginia before his voyage on the Mayflower in 1620. On the voyage to Jamestown, he was shipwrecked in Bermuda with John Rolfe. In 1999, I became a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. I also joined the Jamestowne Society. I am a member of nine lineage societies. My ancestor for United States Daughters of 1812 is James Norris. Lt. William Smithson is my ancestor for Dames of the Court of Honor. I am also a member of Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of the American Colonists, CSDIW and Pioneers of Arkansas.
I am also very interested in German genealogy. I have ordered a lot of microfilms of actual church records at the Family History Center. The Germans kept great records. I have all of my German families back to the 1600's and 1700's with some of the lines going back to the 1400's and 1500's.
I am on FIND A GRAVE because I want to help others with their research. I also want to link my ancestors with their children.

Thanks for posting the photos of her. Her son Harold was married to my great aunt-I posted my photos of them. It surprises me how many people are interested in Harold and Jerrilee Sims.

I'll have to do some digging for information. We aren't quite as organized as you are! So yes, let's take this conversation off line. My email is Steve@Freyinnovations.com

If you would please call 903-759-9493 and get me a section and plot# I will go see about getting a picture. There are over 6000 burials there, so need a section and plot. Thanks so much.

No, my grandfather (Joseph Frey) was cremated. My Aunt Rie spread his ashes down in Florida. He had been living there for quite some time, until he came back to Michigan.
If I can figure out his place of death city (other than Michigan) we can update the record.
Interesting... my grandfather went by senior, and my father went by junior, but in reality, they should have been Jr. and III, respectively. I guess since my great grandfather wasn't around, it was easier? Who knows?
Another interesting fact (which I didn't know until my grandmother's funeral) was that our family name was originally "Frei" (the German word for "free"). The second vowel in German is pronounced, so it sounds like "Fry". Why in the world they changed it to "Frey" when Joseph the first came to the US, we'll never know. It just made things worse, because people are ALWAYS pronouncing it "Fray". Whatever.
Thanks for keeping the records, we'll keep in touch.

Susan, my great grandmother was Rachel Green Blagrave. Samuel Green was her father.
