|I have added some memorials for the columbarium at our church, St Mark's Episcopal in San Antonio, TX. If one of these is your family member I would be happy to transfer management of the memorial to you. If you find any errors I apologize and will correct it if you will contact me. If the memorial is of your family member and you want the site removed, again I apologize for any offense and will remove the site at your request.|

|Candy Westhoff||Mathias Shiffler|
I did a little research on Mathias Shiffler. He is not listed in our city cemetery book, but was in the transcriptions of tombstones book by a private individual. I photographed the stone and placed it on the memorial as you know. I looked on my ancestry site and it shows him in the 1880 census in Crawford County, KS. It shows him being 67 years old (which could be a misprint or the census taker misheard) and shows a Elizabeth Shiffler, age 62, a Samuel Shiffler, age 33, and a Levi Shiffler, age 17 on the census. It says he was a farmer and that his parents were born in Pennslyvania. it says his birthplace was Pennslyvania also. The only Shiffler we have in our city cemetery records is Samuel Shiffler.
In the Galena, Kansas cemetery there is a Lizzie A. Shiffler who died in 1884 and it has a photo of her tombstone. It says wife of Samuel Shiffler.
On the ancestry site it shows a Mathias Shiffler - born 5 Oct. 1809 in Penn. and died 12 Aug. 1886 in Girard, KS. Shows his wife is Elizabeth Garman. also shows a son John G. Shiffler. Says he married Elizabeth Garman 7 May 1835 in Dauphin, Penn.
there is a lot more information, but I don't know how much you have already. you can email me at candywesthoff at live dot com if you'd like me to give you more information.
|Candy Westhoff||RE: Mathias Shiffler|
that is the date that was sent to me in the email I received asking to photograph the stone. I see that is it also the date the person who put the memorial on findagrave has. I will look in the Cemetery book at the City Office tomorrow and see what it shows (if it's in the book). I looked in the transcription book a citizen of Girard did back in the 1970's and the dates were unreadable back then, only his name was legible. The way the stone is laid out I was not able to see his name on the stone (may be at the bottom of the pile).
I will let you know what I find (if anything) in the cemetery book.

David - I have a photo of a group of Renfrow markers in Kelly Cemetery, but due to their age they are not readable. I did not want to upload it to a grave at random.
I can email the photo to you and you can decide what to do with it if you like.
here is Emily's link

David. I posted a picture of the Davenport plot on the memorial pages of Sarah Augusta Davenport and Charles Davenport. I also posted notes with the picture. Let me know if I can be of any more assistance.
Sorry for this but it popped in my head with you being in Texas. I was wondering if you are near Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, Eastland County? If So I have a few requests that a lady help me pinpoint where some of my relatives are buried at.

That was a very quick find all on one stone and have a question. There is a Emily O'Farrell their also? Part of the family? She was right next to your requested three. If so, My camera died and I will be making a trip back up once this series of rain stops and dries out some and I will get her and a "Father" stone, that is all I have left to take. :)

I located the Davenport plot at the Sacramento City Cemetery, but the only headstone on the plot was for Eliza D. Davenport, born May 24, 1798 and died July 11, 1876. I took a few pictures of the plot and headstone.
