Bio and Links
Bio Photo We completed a survey of all known cemeteries in McMinn County plus transcribed McMinn County death certificates from 1914-1955.
Surnames we are reseaching: Marvin's lineage = Templin, Click, Bryant, Sisk, Smith, Waddell, Gross. Samme's lineage = Carpenter, Simpson, Hutsell, Julian, Warren
Whenever we go out to fill a request, we try to take photos of a few of the surrounding burials. Never know when you might help someone find a lost relative. We also take tombstone pictures of any veterans we see, as we try to honor ALL VETERANS regardless of when they served.
A big "THANK YOU" to all the Find-A-Grave volunteers who have taken tombstone pictures for us.
We are always working on adding veterans to national cemeteries. Our way of honoring our veterans.

Edit Request
Many thanks for approving the various "edit request" I have sent. Your incredible contributions here at Find-a-Grave have been invaluable to me and many others doing family research. I sincerely appreciate your time and efforts to go out... photograph the final resting place and then create a memorial, so they can be remembered. ~ George Gaston

RE: Eva Holtzman
Thank you, I will let him know. There are some that complain that the base is not showing in the photos, so I try to do that if I can.

Thank you for your kind words. He has been a big help to me.

Robert and Eva are actually in Hillgrove. I have some checking to do concerning the Hillgrove and Bear Creek cemeteries. I am wondering if they merged the two cemeteries. There are three separate sections to them with different entrances to them. Kind of confusing.

Thank you again,

RE: Eva Holtzman
I am going to try to get a better photo of the gravestone for you the next time we go out there. My husband was helping me and had taken the photo with his phone. Not sure why he didn't get the full stone with the base. I think he was more concerned about getting the military flag holder in with it. I apologize.

I will let you know when I add a new one.

Have a nice Memorial Day holiday,

Thank you for posting this man's name. This weekend I honor him. He was a of a friend of mine who served as a US Marine in Vietnam. A 'tunnel-rat' because of his small size; he was able to search the Củ Chi tunnels looking for VC hiding underground. When he died, he was homeless, an alcoholic, and suffered severe PTSD from his time in the war. He was on his way to "Potter's Field" (NY's Hart island), but since he served his country with honors I knew he was entitled to a decent burial. So, I went to the morgue to identify him so the NYPD detective there could take proper steps to have him buried properly. When I was trying to get him into a veteran's cemetery, I was unable to find family, or even next of kin. So, I had to step up and with outside support get him what he deserved. And it wasn't in a hole with 30 other unidentified, unknown, unwanted, or homeless. I was homeless when I met Jimmy, and helping him was the first thing I did right in a long road of recovery. After some finagling, the VA did the right thing. Hopefully, now that you've put his name on this site, others might come forward who knew him. Thank you again for continuing to help him and any family he may have. RIP my friend, 'Jimmy the Juice.'
