|Bio and Links|
The attached photo is from 411 N. Wilmington St. Raleigh NC, my mother's childhood home. A home which no longer exists along with many others in the surrounding area between Peace College and the State Capitol.|
I have primarily been researching Wake County families and their intertwining branches for the last six years. My surnames include Carver, Gill, John Davis d Aug 1829, Dunn, High, Horn, Moring,and Taylor(Nash Co) maternal line.
Surnames in Rockingham and Caswell Co include Alcorn AKA Alcon,Betts,Fitzgerald,Mills,Nunnally,Powell,Robertson,Stubblefield paternal line and so many more families with ties to these counties and beyond.
A resident of Somerset Co, NJ for 28 years.
I've posted many photos from the NC yearbook collection which are available on at line at ncgenweb.us/nc/bookshelf/yearbooks/ The vast majority of photos I have used are from 1930 and earlier yearbooks. After contacting several schools over the use of these photos and copyright law, I have been told as long as I'm not profiting from them and have listed the source, I'm in compliance with the law under the guideline of fair use. As of early 2012 and ancestry including yearbooks on their website, the issue of photos and copyright issues would appear to be a mute point. If a family member wishes me to remove any photo I have posted, just let me know.
Many of the memorials I have added have been to Oakwood & Montlawn. Genealogy is my first love. I enjoy finding the elusive badly transcribed records that help document a family. I think the 1940 Wake census on ancestry may be the worst yet. Memorial's are based on a combination of death, census and the Oakwood database itself for those deceased prior to death records. The memorial's and photo's I add are done so with much respect to that individual, their family and the history of North Carolina. The majority of the memorials will be part of my Wake County "Six Degrees of Separation" Tree. Visits to Oakwood in Aug 2012, Aug 2013, Aug 2015, & Aug 2016 to take photos. As of Jan 2017 I have 98400+ individuals with 6300+ documented at Oakwood and 4300+ at Montlawn
My findagrave wish list would be a paper scroll symbol to signify there is a paper document which would leave the portrait symbol for actual pictures of people.
I do like to link and if I have not, it is just an oversight on my part. Thanks to all that help with my suggestions/requests and the new edit feature which makes that so much easier now.
My memorials are frequently revisited and updated especially since finding additional records at familysearch.org which ancestry does not have. These records are available to all researchers. Their records include death certificates 1931-1994 and a marriage collection thru 1979. May I respectfully suggest, anyone posting current deaths without a birthdate revisit your memorials and get the birthdate from the social security index which is also available on familysearch.org.
PLEASE refrain from death certficates on my memorials. It should not be necessary in most cases.
MAR 2015-I'm now using News Bank to further my research. They have obituaries from the News & Observer starting @ 1991. I have been able to access this online thru my library. Other NC papers are also available.
OCTOBER 2015-This month Family search.org updated one of their NC marriage collection records. You can now view the document & many will include the parents names. These new documents will be invaluable to many researchers.
SEPT 2016-I'm seeing a lot of sideways photos lately. I was having the same problem after my most recent trip to take photos at Oakwood. I solved the problem by going to photo edit. If you need to rotate do that and then you only have to crop the tiniest bit,save and it should solve the problem and upload in the correct orientation.

there is a note that states your grandfather is the little boy in the mans lap.
Who is your grandfather and do you know the names of the other people in the picture.
Bessie Fitzgerald Alcorn's line feeds into my Wrenn line.
Thank you for any information you might have.

Hi! Can you remind me of specifically which Richardson/Spruill memorials I sent you edits for? It may take me several days to go back on my research to verify where my information came from. The majority of my edits are from death certificates and social security records. I can look back and see where this one came from. :)
And thanks for uploading pictures and information! It's wonderful that I can see the pictures of gravestones from my ancestors even when it's too far for me to drive! Hopefully other people can utilize the information as well! Especially when it links descendants on these memorials!
Have an awesome day!

|Belle ||RE: Hinton family|
Hi Danna, Thank you for doing this work! I had no idea where my gggrandparents were buried til now. The rest are in the Pescud (Hinton) plot, but I guess because Laurens Hinton 's sister married a Bledsoe, he and Jane were put in the "wrong" spot.
I live in Raleigh but am out of town until Nov. 1. I don't know how to do the GPS locations, but if it is something a smart phone can do, I'd be glad to try. I plan to go back to Oakwood to clean the stones when I get back to Raleigh, so I can do it then if I can figure it out. Belle Long

And her husband whose name I just forgot are not buried in the Tucker section of Oakwood Cemetery. I found their stones today just to the north of the tucker section near the Bledsoe stone. One of Jane's sisters,Annie, married a Bledsoe, so that must be why they are there. I've given the info to cemetery personnel, so I hope they will soon be entered in the Oakwood database. They are my 3x great grandparents. Thank you for noting them! Belle Long

|Genie Velvin Haley||Contact about common surnames|
Would you send me a private message with an email address for you? I'd like to discuss some common surnames/counties we have!
|Genie Velvin Haley||Katherine Parmerle Harden|
I am so glad you have pictures of her! She is my 4th cousin, 3x removed. It may sound distant to some, but I am proud of my Wake County roots. My line of Velvin (Belvin) moved on from Wake County to SC, GA, AR and then TX where I was born. And wouldn't you know ... I wind up back in Wake County!

I am deeply grateful for the transfer!
Many Thanks to You,
Thank you for adding the Tilley family grave photos from Oakwood Cemetery. I really appreciate your doing so!

|Cindy Wilson||John Carson Bunn|
In regards to the picture that is representing John Carson Bunn (Oakwood Cemetery) This is not John Carson Bunn! I was married to him for 2 years & 8 months. I don't know who placed the wrong picture on this page but I am in hopes that it will be removed. Our son brought this to my attention yesterday. Thanks for your help in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at email@example.com. Again thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Cindy Bunn Wilson
