I live in JoCo NC. Cemeteries are my second home, though, wherever they may be. My current mission is to photograph every tombstone in the area that has a photo of the decedent on it, before it can be defiled. I love helping people with research and finding their loved ones. Its one of the only things I am good at. :)|

I know why you could not find this stone. I don't believe it exists. Her stone is Augusta Dodd . There are two memorials for the same person. Her full maiden Name is Marylou Augusta Barefoot . She was married twice first to William Dodd 1920 then to Wiber Parker 1927 . There are Two mems for her one with each husband . Obviously She is Actually buried with William Dodd.

You are more than welcome; unfortunately we were the ones who reported the vandalism of this beautiful monument. Luckily, I had proof of how it looked before and that it was recent damage at the time. We could not find the head that was removed, but we found the metal remains of what was used to decapitate the statue. All went into evidence with the Charlotte Police Department. Many times, we had to report things missing. A homeless person stole the metal fencing of the grave site a few down from this statue and he had sold it as scrap, they don't make metal work like this anymore. We tracked it down and were able to recover it before it was melted down. I spent a lot of time at this cemetery, since my husband is related to half of the people in it. We no longer live out there so we hear from friends and family about the cemetery from time to time.

Thank you for photographing the gravestone of Bessie Lewis Alford (Memorial# 57400242) in Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery. I appreciate it, and I apologize for not thanking you sooner--this one got away from me!
I would like to add her gravestone photos to the (non-profit) Alford American Family Association's collection of North Carolina Obituaries, where her obituary is (or will be) included. You can see the current collection at http://www.alfordassociation.org/OBITS/NCOBIT.htm.
May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, I will add this to the photo caption:
Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—www.findagrave.com
Permission granted by the photographer, Vee
And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!
