My name is Don, and I live in LaGrange, GA. I spent most of my life in Maryland, but when I retired, I move to GA. Since 2007, I have been the GA GenWeb manager for Troup County, GA, and have made extensive surveys of the smaller cemeteries in Troup County, GA. My GenWeb website can be found below.
I have extended my work to several additional cemeteries in either Troup County, or in counties near the Troup County line.
I enjoy researching cemetery gravestones. If I have listed a grave for which you are related, and you desire to actually manage that grave, let me know and I will transfer control. | |

 | Re: John Pert I received your SAC that states, "According to the Troup County Archives, he died on 11 Nov 1863"
This death date has been part of the memorial since its creation. No correction is necessary.

 | Elizabeth Jane (MOTLEY) PIKE Thank you for kindly posting two fine photographs to Memorial #95411354 - however, this memorial is a duplicate of Memorial #20894632, which was initially posted in error to Shadowlawn Cemetery. Would you mind moving your photos to the later (#20894632), or would you mind if I did so? Thanks again for posting them. | | | Hank Rogers
 | RE: Mrs. E. vs Mrs. Walker Dunson Goodness it's been tough trying to figure out my Dunson family. The only person it could be would be Walker's first wife, Nancy Ann Harris Dunson - Nov. 18, 1807-Jan. 23, 1841, but the dates don't match up at all. Walker had a son James Walker, but he died at age 15. Walker's brother's kids don't have any wives that fit either...Walker had an uncle in Jackson Co., GA who may have had a grandson named Walker and I'm trying to figure this out. :)
Thank you for your service! | | | BK

 | Tatum graves There was another thing I wanted to mention to you. My gggg grandparents Holmes and Mary Tatum are buried in East Vernon, but apparently their graves aren't marked. When I was there last weekend I came across two graves to the right of Peter Tatum (their son) and his wife. They are marked but there are no names engraved in the concrete. Given that these two graves are next to children of Holmes and Mary Tatum and in very close proximity to some of Holmes's siblings, his mother, and his grandfather, I feel like these could very likely be the graves of Holmes and Mary. I have nothing to back that up though. I was wondering if you might know who the two graves belong to, or if you could take a look at them the next time you are at the cemetery.Added by Em on Oct 14, 2012 9:20 AM | | | Em
 | RE: Mims Sledge in East Vernon Cemetery I would really appreciate it if you could do that, and perhaps get a picture of the engraving if possible. I wanted to try and get a rubbing of that monument and the one for Nancy (Sledge) Tatum the next time I am there. Mims is her father. (Mins is the name I have from my sources.)Added by Em on Oct 14, 2012 8:56 AM | | | Em
 | Mims Sledge in East Vernon Cemetery I saw that you posted a photo for the grave of Mims Sledge in East Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Is that headstone easier to read before noon? I visited the cemetery recently, but it was later in the day and I found that monument impossible to read. All I could make out was the birth month of January.Added by Em on Oct 13, 2012 10:04 PM | | | | [View all messages...] |
