I believe that your memorial is the correct one.

It matches my family tree better

RE: Maria Grassfield
Hi Evelyn,
I am not related to Maria Grassfield. I have been researching my ex husbands family for over 25 years. They are not related to her either. Why I posted this photo.....
My father in law (died 1979) had a bunch of old family photos from his father Albert Lafayette Ward, that we found when my mother in law passed in 1993. I was so excited to get these as the Ward family researchers had hit a brick wall. These opened up a great amount of stuff. Anyway there was a photo of Maria Grassfield included in the bunch. Of course at the time of finding these we didn't have computers and websites like we do now. So when I started researching again several years ago I started looking for this Maria Grassfield to see if she had been a first wife of Alberts. Albert did not marry my husbands grandmother until 1902 and he was in his 40's by then. I found Maria's family and saw that she had passed in 1895 (off the top of my head in this note). I have come to the conclusion that Maria Grassfield may have been a girlfriend or fiance of Albert's and then she passed. I have no proof of this and have not been able to find anything of them together except he had this photo. I also have a photo of a Ben Thompson and a Jennie Thompson in Iowa that was in this same group of photos. Albert was the 2nd to the youngest of 13 children and the youngest were sent to live with different families in the 1860"s after the mother died giving birth to her 14th child. This may be the Thompson family. I have found NOTHING on them in Iowa ever. Have you heard of them? Do you maybe have anything about a relationship between Maria and Albert? You are the first person to contact me about the Grassfield family. It seems they are researched extensively.
Thank you for your note!!

I just had a feeling that was going to happen. Those are pretty sharp! Glad I happened to think of you having them on. I haven't been in the Stanley cemetery for a few years. My aunt Arlene Schmidtke is buried there. Nice work! Bonnie Meyer Meier

Thank you for putting in Elsie's information on find a grave. However her maiden name is Dye not Bradshaw. Bradshaw is the last name of Sarena's 2nd husband and Elsie is the oldest daughter of Sarena and Everett Dye. Elsie is my Aunt.

RE: Lindsey
Hi Evelyn - You took lovely photos of my 2nd GG Oscar, my great grandmother Florence Miller Linsey, and several other relatives up at Urbana Cemetery. Thank you. And, yes, if you'd like to transfer, I'll take it on.
