(John C. Carter)|
(Will be spending part of the summer in southwestern Maine).
Happy to photograph at any cemetery in the Tampa Bay, FL area! (or in the Lakes Region of SW Maine).
Born in Dover, DE, (to parents from NJ & WV), I lived in southern CA until age 12, & then in Raton, (a small town in N.E. New Mexico), which I consider my home town. I attended NM State Univ for 4 years (with a 1-yr exchange to Oregon State Univ), but did not complete a degree at that time, & later moved back to southern CA, settling in the Orange County area. After 10 yrs in the O.C., I moved to St. Petersburg, FL (Tampa Bay area) in 1990, & have been here ever since.
I have avidly worked on my family's genealogy since the age of 15 ... 40 years this summer!
I am a member (and former chapter registrar) of the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) with 7 qualifying ancestors submitted (more to come!), a member of the SUVCW (Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War) with 10 qualifying ancestors or brothers of ancestors (more to come!), a member of the SVR (Sons of Veterans Reserve (affiliated with the SUVCW), a member of the S&DUSCT (Sons & Daughters of U.S. Colored Troops), a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians of New Jersey, and an associate member of the Lenape Indian Tribe of Delaware.
I'm very proud that every single branch of my ancestry has been in America since at least pre-Revolutionary times.
Having taken numerous college courses over the years, I finally bit the bullet & enrolled in a program in 2003 to complete my degree, & graduated from Eckerd College (a local, private, liberal arts college) in May 2005 with a B.A. in Creative Writing.
Besides genealogy & writing, my other interests include: clock collecting, books, movies, photography, the Civil War, the space program, many types of music, & visiting cemeteries!
Thanks to the creators of this site for doing such a great job!

Thank you for trying to locate their headstones. Sometimes it's a wild goose chase, but I do appreciate the effort.
I did not add the number and not I can not recall the listing I was working on.

Thank you for adding to Findagrave.
However it would be a great help when adding photos to note the BOX Type of Photo and click on that to select Grave, Person, Family, or Other for this sets the order in which the photos show on the site
Again thank you for adding to the memories.

Howdy, Spaceman Spiff!
I did check my email shortly after your message on my wall.
I'm still pondering how to best approach this situation when I run across it myself at Bay Pines as I do quite a bit of photographing out there.
I appreciate the advice though. It gives me a better idea on how to handle things.
Listen, we seem to run in similar circles as far as where the work with Find a Grave takes us. I think it'd be great if we could meet over a lunch, or something one of these weekends if you'd be up for it.
You seem like a great guy and I appreciate the work you do; specifically where Veterans are concerned. I'm a Veteran myself, so this is something close to my heart.
Well, anyway...something for you to consider. If you'd like, send me an email or message.
Look forward to hearing from you.

I've sent you an email to the address you have listed just beneath your bio.
I was hoping you might assist me on a question I have.
Keep up the great work!

John, so sorry about confusing you. When Roxanne's memorial showed you had created it, I ASSUMED you were friends and didn't think it was necessary to add her last name. That's what I get for assuming! Rose in OK is married to a Robinson, connected to Iona Griffin's mother. I scanned Iona's family pictures that were shared with the two of you. Iona said she had more I could scan, but we never got together. My life was in chaos, and company made Iona nervous. I called her a couple of times when I was in Eubank, and that was what she told me. Wishing your family the best of health, Darla
