I have been involved with genealogy since 1970. I am chairman of St. John's Lutheran Parish cemetery board and have established a detailed cemetery record and map for our parish cemetery. It is located in Kellner, Wisconsin, which is in Portage County. However, the mailing address is Wisconsin Rapids which is located in Wood County. As of Oct. 3, 2010, there are 720 recorded burials dating back to 1866, the year St. John's was incorporated as a congregation. My husband's name was Francis.
RE: Arthur Alft I think I came in contact with you 2 or 3 years ago when I started on the Alft line. My grandmother was Irene Margaret (Alft) Rohloff Dahms Kanaman. I'm working my way back through the list and doing updates. Since that time, Findagrave entries can be saved on Ancestry.com. Going through and doing that.
I think you are correct on the Draft Cards. I believe everyone had to fill them out. His WW1 and WW2 draft cards say William Arthur.
I thought you may be interested in this obituary I found for Arthur Alft may be you'll want to add it to his memorial.
Thanks tabatha b:)
