a decaying Body
of Historical Evidence
that should be Recorded
before it crumbles into Dust
or is Destroyed
by the work of Vandals.
Stand still reader, and let fall a tear
For the facts engraved here
And then make haste, transcribe these lines,
Learn while ye may the meaning of these signs,
Preserve these stones, avert the crime
Snatch history from the hands of time."

I have corrected the date of death and have added the other information you provided to the bio.
By the way, are you related to the Jahn's of the Kings Valley area in OR?

I took those photos years ago when I had the opportunity to visit both Hecla Cemetery and Portage cemeteries. It is possible that I have them listed in the wrong cemetery. If you feel that your information is correct, contact me again and I will move them.
