My interest in cemeteries goes back to my childhood, having my own pet cemetery and making crosses for each, made of lathes and old paint. That was many "Mr. Moons" ago, (since I have passed the 60 year mark.) I have two daughters, my first born in 1982, and the youngest, born in 1984, has given me four Grandsons, ages 11, 7, 1, and the last born Aug 2013. They live ten miles away. As a teenager I mowed a nearby cemetery with a push mower, which has about 75 graves. It was big money back then, $5.00.
I accidentally came across FindaGrave while looking for famous interments. I mentioned it to my Sister, and upon her investigation, she discovered that local cemeteries were also listed. She right away started entering family interments, and it had just grown from there.
My daughters and my sister's family said that we were "ate up with it". Each person who has entered and left this world is special, and that life deserves to be recognized. We were quite addicted to exploring, documenting and "wandering and wondering." My sister and I made a trip in mid June, 2009, to attend a Willis reunion in Ellington, MO. Through a photo request of our paternal great grandparents, we connected up with a cousin that we didn't know we had.(Thanks Betty Radford). Through our works with Findagrave and by accepting the reunion invitation, we had the pleasure to meet other cousins. "Sis" and I also visited the graves of both sets of our paternal great grandparents graves, and where guided to the farm where our grandfather was born. We "cackled" the whole trip.
I believe that God gave us this time together, just the two of us, because very sadly, my sister, age 59 passed away suddenly 15 days after our trip. I would explain our sister/friend relationship as this "we were so close, you couldn't have put a flat toothpick between us." She was an amazing woman and I am humbled without her presence in my life.
I have posted a memorial for my beloved sister Linda Kathaleen (Willis) Stephenson.

In loving memory of my dear brother. God only gave me one brother, turns out, you were the best, and all I ever needed. "Dumpy"
Please email with any corrections, and I am not opposed to transfer ownership to anyone wanting to post a full memorial. EACH DAY COUNTS!

First of all, thank you for your work. It is appreciated.
I've had problems with this memorial because I am finding him in draft records 1917-1918 and in the 1940 US census.

1877 to 1915
Cannon Cemetery, Carroll County, MO
A recent query on A.com into his death year provided a death year of 1965 rather than 1915. I thought I'd let you know in case you would like to change it. I'm actively researching this line and the connection to Garbs sisters that married Dowlings.
He is the son of
Mary C. (Garbs) Dowling, 1849-7 Sep 1917 & Patrick Dowling, unk to 17 Feb 1906,
Joseph is the husband of
Mary Catherine(Cannon)Dowling, 22 Sep 1883-15 Aug 1975, and together they are parents of
Joseph Lee, 1906-1907,
Catherine Marie Dowling 29 Oct 1909-27 Apr 1993, & Roscoe Patrick, 17 Apr 1913-31 Aug 1962,
all found in Carroll County cemeteries.
Dora was my wife's cousin down the line on the Branstetter's side, my wife was adopted and now I am trying to do her natural side of the family.
My wife passed away in 2000
Thank You again and as always appreciate it so much!
Have A great Day

I'm not sure about the John you knew, Elizabeth Kelly Bottom married my uncle, Rolla Thomas Bottom. They had a daughter Betty that I'm looking for, so I've fleshed out Elizabeth's family in hopes that she at some point lived with her daughter. But not so, the daughter would be in her 90s, so as you say, everyday counts!I love to flesh out families whether they are mine or not . . . never know who's looking for them!

I made the changes that you requested. I am not related to Sarah, so would you like me to transfer her memorial to you?

Fun to connect with people who knew the people when they were living. When I looked his wife had been linked...her site http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=96502033 You are right they aren't in the same cemetery.
I'm not aware of any Pippins buried around him, so would be interested if you find that to be true.
We are very distantly related to him through his wife who is a Pippin-3rd cousin 1x removed according to ancestry.
Thanks for being willing to take the photo!
