The Will of George Farrar
Message send to Rich Boyd
I hope that I am not asking too much, but I saw this on your Clan Boyd site
"the daughter of one of Alexander's brothers was Elizabeth Boyd She married George Farrar(1762-1819) on 22 Feb 1783 in Mecklenburg Co., VA. (George was a great grandson of Judith Jefferson, aunt of President Thomas Jefferson.)=C2 They had 10 children (I have a copy of George's will and he names them). One of those children was Judith Farrar (1793-1836)."

I am an earnest Farrar Family genealogist, and although not descended from
George Farrar and Judith Jefferson, I am trying to clear up a controversy.
Could you forward, via Email, a copy of the will of George Farrar and Judit=
h Jefferson?

The reason is that you said that the will contains the names of ten children, however. Page 156, Some Farrar Island Descendants, Alvanh Holmes, 1977 mentions the will (Meck. W.B.9, 45; pr 5.17.1819) mentions the following children: Sally, thomas, Betsy, Patsy and Hillsman. http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~clanboyd/johjoy.htm

That is only five, not ten. I would need your copy of the will this is important because I have the largest data base in the Americas of the Farrar family (with ancestry stretching back a thousand years, which I can share), and includes cousin lines. I have also posted much lineage on www.wikitree.com and on www.findagrave.com.

I am currently trying to resolve the controversy of Rebecca, Judith and Redmond Rudd Smith, but as noted the authority on the subject, Some Farrar Island Descendants, mentions only five children in the will of George Farrar III .

On page 157 of Some Farrar Island Descendants is mentioned that Hillsman Farrar, wit. sister Sarah's M.B. in 1804 His children, named by his fathers will, "heirs of Hillsman living with the testator." issue Judiy, Ann, Rebecca, Alexander, Arthur.

It is my analysis that Judy and Rebecca who married Redmond Rudd Smith were possibly daughters of Hillsman Farrar, granddaughters of George Farrar IIIand Elizabeth Boyd., but they had to be much younger than descendants think, because according to http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=smith&GSfn=rebecca&GSiman=1&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=4&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=24771660&df=all& Rebecca Farrar was born 1795, whereas George Farrar III and Elizabeth Boyd were married Aug 22, 1783, and George at best would be grandfather of Judith and Rebecca.

The only other sisters, Judith and Rebecca, were daughers of Peter Farrar and Mary Magdalene (Chastain) widow Cock. (not to be confused with a granddaughter, Mary Magdalene Chastain Farrar) This Judith was born 1756 and married Richard Ogilby and her sister Rebecca was born 1764 and married Gen Robert Porterfield.

If you could help me with a copy of the will I would be very appreciative and would go a long way to clearing up this affair.

Judith and Rebecca Farrar
I sent the following to Rich Boyd of Clan Boyd International, he claims to have a will which mentions ten children of George Farrar III, whereas Alvanh Holmes in Some Farrar Island Descendants mentions only five, and none were named Judith or Rebecca

Judith is a logical forename (Judith Jefferson) but not Rebecca, however Rebecca would be a logical surname for a child or descendant of John Farrar (son of George Farrar Sr) who married Rebecca Puryear.

Here is the message that I sent:

Do you and I need to do any updating of memorials?Russ I recommend that you correct the bio of Rebecca Farrar Smith http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=24771660.

George Farrar III and Elizabeth Boyd had five children, Sarah "Sally" who married Woody Vaughn, Thomas, Betsy who married John Whittemore, Patsy who married Phillip R Johnson,

Hillsman Farrar, who married Mary "Polly" Hawkins, he had five children, Judy,Anne, Rebecca,Alexander, Arthur

If there were indeed sisters Judith and Rebecca who married Redmond Russ Smith, then it would be the daughters of Hillsman Farrar, not George Farrar III (who would be their grandfather).

See pages 156-157, Some Farrar Island Descendants, Alvanh Holmes, 1977

Gabriel Nix b 1759
Russ,

Please help me with this grave location and identification if possible. The reason for the interest is the grave location that has been identified as Gabriel Nix b1759 d1845 is very interesting. A number of people throughout the US has been trying to find the grave location of a man named James Nix b1759 d1845. This Cemetery has two of his sons buried there. I we can prove there is a Gabriel Nix b1759 d1845 then James may also be Gabriel since one of his sons was named Gabriel and is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Please contact me by phone at 501-467-8891 or
email me at Gooddeals2.net@Gmail.com or leave a message on findagrave.

Thanks so much

Charles Nix

Pleasant Hill Cemetary
Russ my name is Charles Nix. I have been doing genealogy since 1975. My surname of interest is Nix. I noticed you have worked the Pleasant Hill Cemetary in Dallas Co., AR. I have been there a number of times but never took the time to do look at all the graves. I noticed you have identified a number of Nix graves at that location. The one I am really interested in is the grave marked Gabriel Nix b1759 d1845. Is there a stone with those marking or was the information obtained from documentation? If a stone exist is it new or old.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Charlie

ps: If I can help you in any way please email or call me at 501-467-8891.
