I love to learn about my family, I have been researching for 8 years now. I try to find out as much as I can about mine and my husbands families. For some reason I really like cemeteries. They make me feel more connected to the people who have come before me. I'm respectful of the graves and hate to see them unkept and neglected.
I know how hard it is to research when the person you are researching is not local to you, so I'm willing to help anyone with research in my area. I live in Gilbert, Louisiana but most of my family is from Caldwell Parish, Louisiana.
I think you're correct that Florine had a twin brother, William. The name "Cumpton" is also spelled "Compton" in the same family. I believe that the original spelling was "Cumpton". That family is from the Rayville area. Florine's mother, Callie was a Batey, the daughter of Walter Bone Batey and Mary Jane "Mollie" Trahern. Mollie was the daughter of Dr. Samuel C. Trahern and Adelaide Weeks. I think all of these people are buried in the Holly Grove Cemetery, but Adelaide no longer has a visible gravestone. BTW, Florine's brother, Allen Compton, from Winnsboro plans to place a gravestone for her soon.
My paternal grandmother was also a Batey (Mary Frances Batey Roach, Callie's sister)and is buried in Holly Grove.
Caroline Foreman/Gwynn/presnall Hello Melissa. Caroline Foreman was the sister of my G Grandfather, James Thomas Foreman. I have information on other siblings, John & Sarah, as well as info on parents Larkin Foreman & Caroline Robinson. I have copies of the wills of Larkin Foreman and Caroline's father, William Robinson. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or face book.
John Coston grave Thank you for taking and uploading the photo of the tombstone for John Coston. I am STILL trying to find his grandfather, Phillip James Coston and wife Roberta (Bertie) Coston if you come across it in that cemetery. His death certificate states he was buried there but I haven't been able to find it. His son was Woodard Coston. Thanks again!
