Cemeteries are "a memorial and a record. (They are) not a mere field in which the dead are stowed away unknown; it is a touching and beautiful history, written in family burial plots, in mounded graves, in sculptured and inscribed monuments. (They tell) the story of the past, not of its institutions, or its wars, or its ideas, but of its individual lives,--of its men and women and children, and of its household. (A cemetery) is silent, but eloquent; it is common, but it is unique. We find no such history elsewhere; there are no records in all the wide world in which we can discover so much that is suggestive, so much that is pathetic and impressive." ~~ Joseph Anderson, American clergyman (1836-1916) |
For a very touching poem, see "Dear Ancestor" by Walter Butler Palmer.
Please use Find a Grave guidelines, if you wish me to transfer management, or edit/add information (please ask via Edit tab/SAC link). ~~
I believe obituaries provide much needed genealogical information that if not captured will be lost. With the increase in cremations, obituaries might be all that outlives our ancestors. Since obituaries are already published in newspapers and on the internet, anonymity has already been compromised.

Hi, Linda – I hope you’re well and enjoying the weekend. I appreciate your posting the death notice for Kathryn Amelia “Kay” (TALBOT) HEBERLING and the name update on her Memorial #100092349. I saw that you also submitted a suggested edit on her places of birth & death. I have been able to confirm her birth place as Columbus, but I wondered if you had a source for her death place being Fulton County? I haven’t been able to document that for some reason. Thanks – John
why no cemetary photo's??? it shows future generations where to find him/her to place flowers on the grave???
I'm not going to take the ones I put in, out. we will see about future ones

When I ask for documentation, it is not an obit for another person. That is what someone else said, so this is hearsay.
Documentations include, birth, death, social security applications, marriage license and census records.
Please resubmit with accurate sources.

Read my profile page, I do not make any links or add any information that does not come with source/documentation/proof.
I will decline your edit request, you may resubmit with sources.

While this headstone clearly reads Sept 17,1859, the death certificate states Sept 17, 1857

Love your profile and the beauty of the descriptive essence in the cemetery. The cemetery is one of my favorite places and has been since I was about 5 years old while hunting with my father we came across a soldier's grave and several fieldstone markers he told me that man lost his life for me and since I have wanted to know more about the people resting around me. Thank you for your message it made my day ! Thank you for all you do with Find A Grave. It is ha bit forming ! Bren

there is a memorial for this person in Fort Benning Cemetery #32 AND #44. Do you know if this is some how a duplicate or if it is two different people.
