Knoxie Thelma Canada Branch, 87, died Nov. 21, 2001.
She was born Dec. 30, 1913, to Lewis Monroe Canada and Augusta Kennard Canada at LaCrosse, Arkansas, in Izard County. Her schooling began at the age of 13 in Batesville while living in a boarding house. She returned to LaCrosse in 1930, where she worked on the family farm. In 1942 she was united in marriage to Rev. James I. Branch of the Methodist faith. His ministry took them from Arkansas to Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. Rev. Branch passed on in November 1972. She was also preceded in death by her father in August of 1967 and her mother in November 1972. From then on she had lived with her sister, Estelle Rucker of Batesville. She faithfully carried on the ministry with the Bethel African Episcopal Church. She served as a trustee, missionary community Bible teacher and steward. She also was active in the Batesville chapter of the WCTU and the Batesville Home Extension Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Estelle Rucker of Batesville; a brother, Lewis Kennard Canada of Batesville; a nephew, Kenny Canada of Batesville; a niece, Cynthia Canada of Jonesboro; and two great-nephews, Lewis and Darrell Canada of Batesville.
Visitation at the Willis-Hays Funeral Home will be Sunday, Nov. 25, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be at the Bethel AME Church at 9th and Oak Street, Batesville on Monday, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m.
Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery.

Good, that hill is terrible. I seen where you were working the Independence County cemeteries & doing a great job. I've been trying to work Izard County. I just got a message that Vera Reeves died. She has done a lot on Find a Grave - Izard, Baxter, Fulton, etc. I'm going to miss her. Anyways, I'll let you work Pleasant Valley. I found several names through the obits that are not on the list. Pleasant Valley is large. Have fun. Sandy
