Wood's memorials
You added memorials without birth or death dates and you have asked me to remove those that have these dates this does not make any sense to me for those looking for their family members if in fact I am wrong I will of course remove these memorials I believe those without any dates should be removed, but five dollars and my opinion will get me a cup of coffee.... I am not sure if you have also seen this information. I was not aware of it until a few months ago.

The information below is what I go by as it is prohibited to use the military except for particular situations.

"Use of rank/rating is reserved for those who retire. Officers and enlisted personnel who resign their rank/rating (discharged) are prohibited from using them as a part of their name after their service. If they are killed in action, of course, they would continue to use the rank as they were never discharged."

If you Google the question there are many articles and protocol to review.

Thank you for your service!

I don't seem to have a choice but to leave a message here since it is about a photo you took for the memorial listed below. Do you still have the original photo? If so could you send it to me so I could extrapolate the engraving. Seems nothing was done with the engraving on the stone in regards to this memorial. birth seems to be 1771 but the rest is too low resolution to make out. Thanks,

WH Grayson Bible Photo
Hi Katherine-
I am an ancestor of WH Grayson whose Bible you posted a photo of. Do you have any other photos of this Bible?
Thank you so much!
I sure wish someone knew where it was now.

Thanks for the transfer of my cousin Mary GRAVES Graves. I do appreciate it. I'm trying to connect them to their children.

Happy Valentine's Day,

Valley Springs Cem
Hi Kathline,

Was wondering if you still have the photo of my distant cousin Edith M COOPER Harris buried in Valley Springs Cemetery. If so, you can add the whole photo with her husband who should be Charles Edward HARRIS. Not sure why his death date was not on the photo because he died in 2005 before you posted the photo in 2008. Anyway, having his birth and not death date on the stone is better than nothing to me - if you still have the photo you took. I know you take TONS of photos and add!

Many thanks for ALL your hard work,
Dianne, San Diego Co, CA volunteer

Charles Albes

People and Things from The (Cullman Alabama Tribune, 1877-1898

November 24, 1892

Sad Accident. Charles Albes Loses His Life Attending to Duties around His Gin. Mr. Charles Albes, who lived four miles west of Cullman, was accidentally killed last Friday. He was assisting in bailing cotton when the rope broke which caused the lever to fly back and strike him, killing him almost instantly.

Mr. Albes was one of Cullman County’s old and honored citizens, having located here in 1874, and was respected for his manly deportment in both public and private life. He was twice chosen as county commissioner, and his work as a public officer stands on this county records unimpeachable. As a private citizen, all who knew him, spoke of him in the highest terms.

The funeral took place last Sunday afternoon, and the last of this good man was laid away in the Protestant Cemetery. The procession was over a mile in length and composed of our best citizens. The G. A. R. Post, of this city, honored the last remains of their brother in a manner befitting true soldiers.

The deceased was a brother of Henry Albes, proprietor of Hotel Bismark, Decatur, Ala. {Charles Albes, buried Cullman City Cemetery, no dates recorded}

Yours truly,
Rick Weber
