Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Fellow of the Manchester & Lancashire Family History Society and a member of the Society of Genealogists. I live near Stockport, Cheshire, England. I visit Manchester Central Library most weeks and can do look-ups there. I am also willing to visit cemeteries in the Greater Manchester area and take photographs of headstones, provided the grave number is known.

James Mayall
Hello Mike

Thanks for the photo - James was my first 1/2 cousin twice removed. He was part of the Mayall dynasty (almost built the town of Mossley), Two other members of the same family were the late Rik Mayall (Comic) and John Mayall of Bluesbreaker fame. John is still alive, in his 80's and lives in L.A. He has the MBE for services to music. My mum's maiden name was Mayall.

Thanks once again - Michele

Photo request
Thank you so much for the photo of Frederick Arthan's grave.
He was my maternal grandfather, and on closer inspection my grandmother Gertrude Agnes is also buried there. There is also a memorial to my uncle Frederick Ralph who was shot down over Belgium during the war aged 22.
My mother never told me about these graves so I had no idea they were there. My uncle was of course buried in Belgium but I'm so pleased to find a memorial for him.
Thank you again

RE: Emmanuel Shevloff
Yes I did notice this. I am hoping the Hebrew will give a clue as to his father and that it will link in some way to my grandmother, probably over optimistic !

Emmanuel Shevloff
Thankyou for such a speedy response. We have so little information about my maternal grandmothers background that it would be very exciting to find a connection with Emmanuel.
My grandmother was a Chaya Shevloff but we have very little idea of her antecedents other than her mothers name "
Many many thanks
