Since I was a youngster, I enjoyed listening to the stories the older relatives told. I did not realize that was the beginning of my genealogy interest. Shortly after my husband and I married in 1969, we went to his family reunion. The hostess had a beautiful book about 6 inches thick with family information. (That research is now in the local library in a separate collection.) At that moment, I decided I wanted to do what she did.

Most of my family took the migration route from the Carolinas through Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi "for a spell" and then to Claiborne and Bienville Parishes in northern Louisiana. Major surnames include: Dobbins, Baker, Carter, Hays, Crossland, Caskey, Cantrell, Hammontree, Cox, Bassett, Kilpatrick, White, Harper, Pearson. To my surprise many Quaker families from Newberry, SC are in this line.

My husband's family started their migration from Patrick, Henry, and Pittsylvania Counties in southern Virginia southward through Georgia and Mississippi to the Felicianas in southern Louisiana. Major surnames include: Bennett, Lyons, Young, Mills, Hays, Lilley, Morris, Knight, Moore, Swoope, Hairston, Starnes, Rheams. The Quaker lines in this family orginated in Bucks County, PA.

My husband is very supportive of my hobby/compulsion. We routinely visit courthouses, cemeteries, and archives throughout the South. He is the photographer for the gravesites and headstones added to memorials.

I welcome corrections and additional information from cybercousins.

Hi Ruth!! So much has been discovered since we last spoke. Can't wait to link everyone, and email you some of these discoveries. I really enjoyed all of your help with the Stevenson clan. I have to email you, about some of the information unveiled. Can you please transfer Arabella Stevenson to me? I would like to manage this memorial or share in it. Thank you so much, and I look forward to hear from you soon.

Paget
Hi Ruth:

None of the names you have added to her page appear in the Weaverville roster. If you want to email me a list of surnames for her relatives I can check it against the Countywide roster.

I am emailing you a tabulation of the graves surrounding hers.

lucy harper
Hi, Ruth Ann,
I think I got an email from you recently but I can't find it. [I am not a technology person.]
The only Harpers that I know much (and it's very little) about are
Minnie Estelle Harper, who married thomas Robison Methvin. She was the daughter of Charley E. Harper and Lucy Bond. I have a picture of Mrs. Lucy Harper (I assume Lucy Bond) that my grand-mother had. I believe she is sitting in a rocking chair. If this is the right Harper for you and you do not have this picture of her, I would be very happy to make a copy of it and send it to you.
How are you? Haven't seen you in years! Do you ever get up this way? I would love to meet with you and share info and pictures.
My email (I guess you have) is ttpardue@gmail.com; phone # is 318-798-8512; address is 225 Hallette Dr, Shreveport, LA 71115

Aaron and Sarah Baker at Asbury cemetery in Marshall Co AL
Wanted to confirm with you. I was in the cemetery today looking for different people. Baker was one of the names I was searching and found this couple. Looking at Aaron's memorial #62673948, and I see where there is a Sarah connected to him. The dates for her do not match the dates that are on his stone. Different Sarah or wrong dates?
