Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.

If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.

Graveyards

When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.

I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.

We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.

Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

Hudson Family Cemetery
Hello, My name is Joe Holmes, my wife is a descendent of William Huffman, I think the William Huffman you show as being buried in the Hudson Family Cemetery. I need some help here. Can you help me find the cemetery. I lived off of Greedy Hwy for 20 years but still am not sure which gravel road to look on for the grave. The grave link itself says it is 1.2 miles from Hwy 127 to this road. Ok got that, but it says it is on property owned by Ben Brannock, no such name listed at Catawba COunty GIS. The next orad over at 1.3 miles is Murphy Weaver Drive, no luck here either. Thanks, Joe

If it has been over a month, I'd contact Find A Grave and explain it to them and they'll take care of it. They've been good to work with me on similar occasions.

Hot here in NC.

James Seavy Oates
Hello Vickie,
Would you mind giving me a source for the "Seavy" in James Seavy Oates. I am the granddaughter of Ephraim, younger brother of this James. Yes, I know ... that's hard to believe. Ephraim was born in 1826 - his youngest son, William Cleveland Oates, was born in 1892 and I was born in 1939.
I have never seen the name "Seavy" on any court records or in any handwritten or court records. I don't know if it's on his grave because there is no picture.
Thank you so much for your help. (I do appreciate that you are as interested in this family as I am. Wish I could meet you personally.)

Elizabeth Mosteller
In the Mosteller Cemetery in Hickory, Catawba, NC, you listed Elizabeth Mosteller, wife of George, d. 9 Sep 1839 with the Inscription:
Age 56y 10m 25d.

There must be a stone or a record somewhere. Is it possible to get a picture of the gravestone for Elizabeth?

Thanks,
Emily
