This is my Graveyard assistant. He keeps all the free-roaming spirits entertained while I take the pictures. |
There are so many old cemeteries in this part of NC so we are trying to post as many interments as possible to help all you researchers out. Also, most of the stones they used for markers in the 1800's are not standing up to the elements very well so it's a race against time to get as many pictures as possible. If you are looking for more NC relatives, I am working with the team of volunteers at cemeterycensus.com. They have surveyed and taken pictures of a ton of cemeteries in central NC.
One of the most popular questions I get emailed is asking permission to use "my" photos. The short answer is yes, you can use any pictures I have taken. I don't require references or accreditation because that's not why I joined the website and volunteer to take photos. I don't consider them my property unless you use them to somehow make millions of dollars (then I'd appreciate a small kickback) :)
The Fall has been busier than I anticipated and I have not been able to spend much time in cemeteries, on Findagrave or ancestry.com... It's a shame that life gets in the way of hobbies some times. I hope to get back to it soon!!

Isn't that the truth, I've been working on my family for over 30 years. Thank God for the internet. I ran into a problem with the Cates family, they married in Tennessee, they disappear on the 1900 census, the father & two sons appear in Tennessee & Alabama in 1910 with Berry's new wife. I found Jones by backtracking the family. They all originated in North Carolina & prior to that is anybody's guess, European at some point. I have not been able to locate any information on Lizzie McGee Cates, the mother of Jones.................in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia or any of the southern states. They did not as you say keep records and in most cases could not afford markers or tombstones....
Thank you for transferring the memorials for James and Mary Breedlove. You help is most appreciated. Sharon

No apologies & no hurry. I have made the additions to his memorial. This family is very difficult to trace. I have transferred him back to your care.
Thank You for updating

My name is Marlene Clapp Brown. I am 78 years old and no longer drive so I must rely on the kindness of people like you who are so dedicated to adding headstones and markers to the memorials. You transferred the memorials of my aunt and uncle Alexander to me some time back. I have seen so many photos of my ancestors in the Graham and Burlington area that you have posted photos to. I would like very much to use these in my family tree on ancestry.com. I have emailed you but I am hoping to get in touch with you as quickly as possible
I request permission to copy and use your photos for my ancestors on Ancestry.com
Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration and whatever decision you might. I am so hoping it will be in my favor :-)
Thank You and God Bless,
M.C. Brown (#48216494)
