RE: Anna Davis Payne
My relationship depends....I have a maternal great grandmother, Adeline Davis Allen, daughter of Edward H Davis, potentially nephew of Samuel Davis, father of James Matthew Davis), Anna Davis Payne's father) and Betsy Lyons and mother of Ernest E Davis, my maternal grandfather and there is dna results that place him, my grandfather, in the family of John A Payne... still hoping for one more dna test to see how much stronger the results get.

RE: Anna Davis Payne
I believe I found Christopher Robert Payne, living here in Florida about two hours from me and I found him on fb, it this is the right one and I think it is....I left him a message on fb and found his phone number and left him a message there....hopefully he will respond, he is the correct Chris and I can convince him to do the dna test....this would break down a HUGE brick wall.

Thank you so much for your guidance and expertise....it is priceless !!!!!

RE: Anna Davis Payne
I did see the book advertised on Amazon and one in the Kentucky Historical Society and even left Norman Payne a message but that is all for now. Thank you so much for the info you just gave....maybe I can find the youngest Payne and see if he is willing to do the dna test and finally get an answer. Will definitely let you know what I find !!!!

RE: Anna Davis Payne
this just came up as a possibility in my line also and as I was trying to see what Davis line and what Payne line I ran across this....now I have to get it straight in my head again....

I talked with Trent Dowell Funeral Home regarding Anna Davis Payne's parents and it was James Matthew Davis and Elizabeth E Payne Davis; I also talked with Karen and Bobbie Jo at archives and the marriage certificate has her parents as the same....and yes Elizabeth Payne Davis is a sister to John A Payne, children of Green Beard Payne....

I had a dna test run on my only remaining male cousin that is a direct descendant of my maternal grandfather trying to find who his father is and it came back with a strong match to the Flaye Payne line, which is the Green Beard Payne line and I was working my way down to the birth time frames and came up with James A Payne as the most obvious....seems I now need to find a direct male descendant to John A Payne....do you happen to know of any ????

If this does not make sense let me know....I was very confused all day yesterday but thank goodness the Find A Grave work has been done and almost everyone linked .

RE: Nina Mae Finch
I researched Nina's father and found that in 1910 he had a wife named Iona age 18. In 1920 he had a wife named Myrtle age 21 and two daughters, Louise age 9 and Nina age 7. That would seem to indicate that Iona was the mother of Louise and Nina. While the ages aren't an exact match, I'm satisfied with Iona as mother and Myrtle as step-mother. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Marsha

RE: Nina Mae Finch
I think I'll do some more investigating and if I can't find anything else, I'll add an explanatory note.

Nina Mae Finch
You're right that it looks strange that Nina's mother appears to have been only 12 years old at Nina's birth but the mother's name on her (Nina's) death certificate is Myrtle Johnson Finch and Nina's age at death was given as 11 years 7 months and 13 days. There may be an error on mother's birth date on her gravestone or it could be that she was Nina's step-mother. Of course, it's possible for a 12 year old girl to give birth.

RE: SusanTabitha Barnett Hill
Joe, I have run into this problem many times on Find-A-Grave. Most of the time you can get straighten out, but a few are more difficult. If you want Susan to be linked to her parents and other siblings you can link her to my memorial and I will try to get the two memorial for her merged. It has been a couple of years since I have worked on my Barnett line, so I will need to contact a couple of cousins to see if they can firm up my data. I can not at this time find my notes on Susan and I did not source her data in my working database. But I am pretty sure that the data I posted is good, and it does differ from that of Charlotte's memorial. The choice is yours, but I will follow up on the problem in a couple of weeks. Thanks for locating some of Aunt Susan's descendants graves for me.....Bill

P.S. I am assuming that you are not related.
