Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi,

I use FAG as a means of communicating to others the information I accumulate. I appreciate your postings on my memorials, but please, no death certificates.

I'll be happy to transfer records to you if you are relatives of those I have management of. To request changes of any kind, go to the memorial in question, click on the [edit] at the top right of the memorial and then select the desired option. That will give me a link to the proper memorial. Changes requested here on my profile page will be deleted with no action.

I post pictures of the persons based on what I have available. If you have better pictures, feel free to post them and send me a note so I can decide if I want to remove the one I have posted.

RE: Washington College Cemetery
My photos are of the graveyard at washington college academy in Limestone Tennessee, my mother lives on the old campus right behind the graveyard and yes there are hundreds buried there. I may have just assumed that it was called Washington college graveyard but after review on google earth I see a sign called salem cemetery for the Salem Presbyterian Church that is close by......guess its a good lesson for me to never assume. Good Catch!! I am assuming you have already updated photos??

RE: Gallaher in Wash County, TN
Jan, do you know about the Bennett books and/or our survey team work? We have those resources available if you've not used them before. BTW, where your people Brethren, by any chance? The burial ground at Wash Coll Station is a Brethren burial ground. Salem has the Presbyterian background. Although, in both cases, I'm sure folks outside the denominations could have been buried there. The "J H C" that I was referring to is at Salem. It is a foot marker, but it has a related head marker broken base which is the Collom lineup that I mentioned. The Salem cemetery would support death dates that you are researching, also. Washington College Station is newer. Also, is there any possibility that these folks were buried on their farm? What source data is pointing to the Salem area graveyards, in particular. You've got me interested in a puzzle now - I love to solve these kind of things. I also am a member of the Heritage Alliance and serve as their "graveyard guy". Hope I can be of some additional help. Are you living around here, or just visiting? Gordon (CSTNET)

Gallaher in Wash County, TN
Jan, I believe that you are correct in assuming that these folks are at Salem. Here on F-A-G and at other sources, the one property is called both "Salem" and "Old Salem Presb". (They need to be merged on F-A-G). It has even sometimes been referred to as "Washington College", as that is where it is located - on the campus itself and adjacent to Doak's church. Washington College is also a regional area, if you will, and the "Washington College Cemetery" is a few miles away and is quite small. It is usually called "Washington College Station", as it's by the tracks. The "J H G" that you mention is actually "J H C" and in the Collom family row. I can send a photo to you, if you wish, but it is quite well established as John Collom and there is no Sarah adjacent to it. Salem is well kept, has several hundred graves, many of which are either unmarked, marked with fieldstones, or markers too spalled to read. I have worked this burial ground extensively, and I have even tried to find Gallahers throughout Washington County for you, but have had no luck. If you would like to PM me with additional info, I'd be happy to try to assist you. I just don't believe that we'll ever find the exact location of these two graves for you. Gordon (CSTNET)

RE: Segroffenzeier Family
I don't think Massie was married to anyone else other than Mr. Roark.

Segroffenzeier Family
Jan, I found an 1880 Polk County Census that has me asking whether is is possible that Massie Ann DeGraffenreid Roark
may have also married a M. Segroffenzeier and had six children?
I can't find anything other than the Census report with Ann, but thought you would be the one to ask. Massie is one of my great grand aunts.

Gemmell Family
The Gemmell Family was killed in Maryland when the plan crashed into their house.

We have created memorials for the mother & two children.

The mother was found shielding the two children from the fire & smoke.

Please help us pass the word to have other Find A Grave member show their support & stop by the memorials.

Thank you
