I live in Newton, Iowa and will be happy to locate and photograph markers in my area.|
I retired from the Air Force August 1 2009 after 26 years of service as a Master Sergeant. I am also a member of the Rapid City, South Dakota Masonic Lodge #25 and the NAJA Shriners.
Photography is my hobby/passion. I will try to fulfill as many requests as possible with quality photos. I enhance all photos to provide the best quality I can.
I trim grass covering markers and sweep off debris to enable a clear view of the marker. I photograph the entire marker as well as a close up of the name inscription. Past experience I have learned people like to see the entire marker and not just a close up of the inscription. I also photograph the back of the marker if there is any inscription on the back.
I NEVER rub chalk or other substances on markers. Chalk will DAMAGE a marker and speed the deterioration of the stone. I use a foil technique that uses aluminum foil to enhance the inscription. This technique does not damage markers and actually works better than chalk.
I can e-mail the full size photos upon request.
I recently became a member of the Jasper County, Iowa Cemetery Commission.
I am interested in my family genealogy surnames of Bickle, Baker, Hoy, Kintz, Plumb, Rinard, Bladwin and several others.
I have entered memorial pages for all

May I ask a question. Does the Iowa Soldiers Home have old residence records available? Jonathan and Ruth was listed in 1900 living in the Iowa Soldiers Home. I am presuming he died there. I have researched, but cannot locate any kind of records for this Soldiers Home.

THANK YOU so much for the headstone photos for these 2 memorials, and transferring them and especially for ALL YOU DO for Find A Grave. My sister-in-law has taken over 15,000 photos at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery and Leavenworth National Cemetery. There are three Find A Grave volunteers that are working on the project to get all the burials photographed. Thank you for your service to our Country.

Thanks for adding some information to his memorial. He wasn't a relative, but maybe a relative can find him now.
