|Bio and Links|
Social Life is the aggregate of all the individual men's Lives who constitute society; History is the essence of innumerable Biographies. |
- An oft-quoted "admission" by Thomas Carlyle in his 1830 essay On History
Originally, the Christian names, maiden names, surnames and dates which appear as titles for these Find A Grave cyber-memorials, and by which these entries are indexed, were as they appear on the stones and, in some instances, on undertaker markers (because, ordinarily, inscriptions are primary evidence for the individuals memorialized in these cemeteries, at least when placed by contemporaries).
Over time, I've begun to enter the transcriptions, so that now, many memorials include maiden names and full names (and additional dates and places) where they can be added with a high degree of confidence. The "Bio" sections may include genealogical deductions which are based on a number of documents, including both primary evidence and secondary sources.
The on-line availability of Georgia death certificates from 1919-1930 allows us to add memorials for burials for which no stone or marker was found in a cemetery (more than a hundred such entries), and allows us to supplement the information for burials which do have extant stones or undertaker markers.
Inevitably, mistakes occur; I very much appreciate your leaving me a message, via the Edit tab, when you notice misreadings, misidentifications, or other errors in the memorials, including misdirections for the embedded links. I will do my best to make corrections promptly and, when practicable, to verify the information. To the extent possible, I ask that you use the Edit tab with EACH memorial; those requests are already linked, so there are no extra steps nor misunderstandings about which memorial is involved (it has happened). For transfer requests, I can only ask that you refer to the FindAGrave guidelines (Example: Direct relatives within four generations; this would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren).
May God Bless Each of You and Your Families †
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:4-9 KJV
NOTICE: My years of care for my father are at an end; we've buried his body, he has gone on to Glory. As related affairs are settled, I turn more of my attention to FindAGrave. Some folks have requested edits, additions, corrections, &c. The number of such requests was not quite "legion," but it was getting there (again, the Edit tab is quite helpful). Please understand that your aid is valued and will get consideration in due time. I thank many of you for your patience, and now for your understanding. For the very few with that snide attitude that requires pointedly commenting yet "AGAIN," I apologize for your extreme anguish and have reason to regret your inability to realize that life exists beyond FindAGrave, that there are "seasons of life" (your pastor can help you with that concept), and that we gravers and genealogists are sometimes reminded that the living (and the dying) most likely should come ahead of the dead.

|Catherine Carter||RE: Re: John SMOAK|
Thank You Robert so much. My cousins and I are having a heck of a time finding John's parents. We also believe in most of the records his last name is spelled Smoke. The john Smoak related to John Samuel Smoak was married to a Elizabeth Ayers and then her sister after elizabeth passed on...so confusing with the name changes.
Bless you and yours, Cathy
|Catherine Carter||Memorial# 31271216 John Smoak|
Hi, I do not believe that the parents are correct. This John Smoak died in 1905, whereas John William Smoak (son of John Samuel Smoak) died in 1868. Can you please delete the parents relationship. My cousins and I are still hunting for his actual parents.
Thank you, and sorry for any hassle.

My wife and I live in an old farmhouse outside of Newington and I'm trying to find who the original owner was, when it was built, info on the families that lived here and maybe old pics of the house. My research leads me to believe that Daniel Lee (son of james Lee) built the house in the early 1890s. This is based on an 1899 document showing the division of the estate with a plat indicating a "residence" at the location of our house. Can you shed any light on who I may contact for information and pics of our house?

I am only asking for you to transfer management of each of these Find A Graves to me, so I can manage the whole family. These are my fathers people that I never got to know when they were alive. Through Ancestry and Find A Grave, I have been able to feel more of a connection to them, and I have been able to get to know each one better. Please help me complete this family, by transferring the management of their Find A Grave pages to me. I would greatly appreciate you helping me achieve my goal of being able to manage the complete family.
Thank You, Bonnie Ward #48696107

|Mark & Jeannie (Mock) Irwin, # 48402560||Caroline Arnett Hughes, 32278301|
I see someone sent you a LINK/EDIT on this Caroline Arnett (32278301) to add her parents as: William Arnett (154156667) & Frances Mock Arnett McGlohon (66179426). THIS IS NOT CORRECT!
William and Frances had a child named Caroline and she was Born either 1877 (after June 27) or in 1878, but SHE DIED AS A CHILD. If you look at THIS Caroline's Memorial, it says she was 84 yrs old at the time of her death, which means, she would have been born in 1835 or 1836. This is a difference of 41 or 42 yrs than when Caroline (dau of William & Caroline) was born.
I sent you and EDIT under this Caroline to DELETE William and Frances as her parents. Please make a note in her BIO that this Caroline is Not their daughter.
Thank you in advance! Mark Irwin, 48402560
(Great Grandson of William Arnett and Frances Mock Arnett McGlohon)

|NCresearcher||Death date for Ellen E. Boaen|
The death date on the memorial reads "1945", but the engraving on Ellen Boaen's tombstone is 1915. I sent an Edit, but there's no opportunity to explain why when you send it, so I'm sending this note of explanation.
