Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a Southern gal with deep roots in the sandy coastal plains and red Piedmont clay of Georgia. I now live in North Carolina -- as did quite a few of my ancestors on their way to Georgia. I'm most interested in genealogy -- when not gardening -- particularly the families of Evans, Lee, Thorn, Rogers, Newton,Lanier, Burch and Dasher. Others too, but those occupy me now.

genealogy work
Sue, thank you for all that you and all that you share on findagrave and ancestry, I vaguely remember the Burch sisters who lived on College Street, as a little girl I always thought of their home as quite lovely and warm, we lived around the corner from them on Harrell Avenue, across from the elementary school.

RE: Thank you for pics of Milburn tombstone
You are welcome,
I'll look for her husband and daughter when I go back up there. A lot of the tombstones are in bad shape and hard to read under those trees. The acid from them destroys the tombstones.

Carey Arnett Evans
Hi Sue, I live in Sylvania,Ga and love geneology. I have done some work on the Evans family. There is an Evans Book by Lloyd Evans and an Evans Cemetery that we recently cleaned up, but was also recently vandalized. Some volunteers are compiling info on all the WWI to Vietnam vets. I have Carey A. Evans' name and want to do him justice. I can't find any info on his military records. If you have anything, could you mail it to me? Love all the pictures of your family. I love visiting Union Cemetery. If you need any photos of graves, let me know. Thanks again.

RE: Massey family connection
Yep ... we are related.
Working backwards
Me, Karen Obie Jackson Glazener
Dad, Wesley O'Neil Jackson, WWII vet
Grandfather, Carroll Clyde Jackson, who married Julia Ada Massey
G-grandfather, Green Massey, CSA vet
GG-grandfather, Rev. Kimbrell Massey, Unity of the Bretheren
GGG-grandfather, Reddick Massey
GGGG-grandfather, Frederick Reddick Massey, some researchers think his name is just Reddick Massey, War of 1812 vet
GGGGG-GF, William Massey, married to Judith Pettipool Jones
GGGGGG-GF, Richard B. Massey, married to Susannah Pettypool
GGGGGGG-GF, Richard Massey, married to Sarah, both believed to be born in UK

The occurrance of matching family names and where the families lived can't be a co-incidence.

I have some of the children of GGGGG-GF, William and Judith as Pettipool, Seaborn, Noel, Hezekiah, Brittain

Much of this information came from June Cavitt and Carla Tate (Carla passed away Dec 2011).

Massey family connection
Hi Sue,

I am a descendant of Julia Ada Massey Jackson, dau of Green Massey, son of Rev. Kimbrell Massey, son of Reddick Massey and so on. There are a number of sons and nephews named Newton and Rufus.

I am wondering if your ancestor James Efford Massey is connected to my ancestor Reddick Massey ... maybe a nephew???

I have Reddick Massey born Jun 13, 1784 in Wake Co., NC. He married Dianah Bolton on Nov 26, 1807, also in Wake Co., NC. They had at least three children:
Mary, born 1805
Kimbrell, born about 1810
James, birth date unknown, he married Mary Polly Chamblee
no additional family information.

Any information would be appreciated.

Just wanted to let you know I added that picture I showed you to the Evans girls memorials. You may want to rearrange them. It's also on, you should be able to find it if you want to add it to your tree.

Hi Sue
I have a picture with Ola, Lena, and Eva together, they had to be around 10 or under. I remembered Laura Lee was one of your ancestors so figured you would like to see the picture.

Are you familiar with any Overstreet's in Screven County? I know a cousin married into the family but that didn't get me anywhere. I have two pictures with a G M Overstreet written on the back and the other is E H Overstreet. I haven't had much luck figuring out who these two people are.

RE: Hi
Thank you! My tree is past 4,000 people now, I never expected it to grow so big.

RE: Hi
I don't know if you are on, if you aren't I can add them on there if you do not mind. I add a lot of extended relatives to my tree so I probably have some of your family included on there. If you do use that website then I probably am "connected" to you on there if your tree is public.
