I started doing full photographic inventories of cemeteries in St. Lawrence county NY back in 1999 and have about 175 cemeteries inventoried and online on my home page (see link below). I have copied the listings over to find-a-grave and am working on getting all the photos uploaded here as well. Its a slow process, so if you don't find what you are looking for here, check to see if I have it on my other site. Please don't add the pictures from my website to find-a-grave yourself. If you find a picture on my site that you would like added to find-a-grave, just send me an email or leave me a message and I'll be happy to add them. |
I also live near Washington DC from November thru April so for the last 7 years I have taken photos in Arlington National Cemetery. However, I am no longer participating in filling requests in Arlington. Over the last three - four years it has become quite unpleasant due to a couple other "volunteers". I will still be visiting Arlington and photographing markers. Currently, I'm working on photographing the markers of the WWI casualties. I just won't be filling requests except on special occasions such as when the Christmas Wreaths are placed, since I can no longer deal with the harassment and I want to regain the feeling of dignity and serenity that I used to have each time I walked into the cemetery. It is one of the most honorable, respectful, serene, and to me, sacred locations in the world .
If you would like to take-over ownership of any memorials I've created for your family members just let me know. I'd be happy to transfer them to you. I have quite a bit of information on most of them so I will take a few minutes to add it (in case you don't have it), but after that, you can update it as you want.

Re Memorial #115810850 for William MacBroome... I don't know why his family monument reads MacBroome.. maybe that was the family name before they all came here from Scotland. William comes from a large family...many of whom are buried in Oswegatchie Cemetery but under the name McBroom. Could you put a note in his memorial about the name should have been McBroom. William is listed as a McBroom in all the census records, along with his wife Ida. Her memorial is #115810849 misread as Adam MacBroome. I've sent through an auto edit to change her name to Ida Mae (Silsby).
Would you also add the large MacBroome Family Monument that is on William's memorial to Ida's memorial #115810849.
I've also sent through an auto-edit to connect William to his parents and to his wife Ida.
Thank you for all the great work you have done. I am so impressed and thankful so I could connect this entire family together.
Any questions drop me a note.

His place of birth is given in the Army and Navy Journal (and quoted in the 51st Annual Report of the Association of Graduates of the United States Military Academy, 1920) as "Berlin, Wisconsin". Which of the two — Berlin in Green Lake County or Berlin in Marathon County, both of which do exist — I can't say.
His entry in Cullum's Register of the Graduates of the Military Academy is at http://bit.ly/Cullum2752.

I hate to bother you again. First, thank you for changing Zilpha Prior's married surname to Austin. I started to work Olive's family of 12 children. Four of their death certificates state their mother's maiden name is Phillips not Austin. So Olive's father was Thomas Phillips not Silas Austin. Thank you when you make the change on Olive and on her mother's biography.
|Trica Willey Hazelton||Zilpha Prior Phillips Austin|
Zipha Prior was born 19 Feb. 1787, Chester, Berkshire Co., MA, as per Chester, MA, town records. She was the daughter of William Prior, Rev. War pensioner, and Elizabeth Ellis. Elizabeth Ellis was the daughter of Samuel Ellis and Zilpha Hammond, a descendant of two Mayflower lines. Zilpha Prior was married first to Thomas Phillips, 8 Sep. 1803, Cambridge, Lamoille Co., VT. He died between 1820-1825. Zilpha then married Silas Austin about 1824. She had one daughter by him, Olive. Olive married Eleazer Robertson. Known Phillips children: Rebecca, a girl, Amos, Elizabeth, and Zilpha

Would you please change the last name from Robertson to Austin for Zilpha? You are using her daughter's married name.
|C. Rose||Hi Anne|
You are probably in the midst of a blizzard. I'm ok in Eastern NC. I was wondering what kind of camera you use because your photos are so crisp. Hope you are well, Charlotte

I'd like to ask your permission to use your photo for Clara Mortensen Beyer #49122098 at Arlington National Cemetery in my Ancestry.com tree.
I would give you proper photo credit.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
