|Charles E. Carroll||RE: J. F. Rogers|
Lesa, I have the photographs and location. Will post on the memorial this morning.
The historical story is this. The property once belonged to my uncle William Thomas Gilmore. Little Lewis Denson died and was buried there in 1903. J.F. Rogers made it known that if he died he wanted to be buried beside Lewis because he felt the boy was lonesome by his self.
The cyclone fence around J.F. Rogers was intact up until about five years ago. The present property owners took part of it down to use in their poultry pens. Pretty sad. J.F. Rogers wife or children paid good money to have that fence installed. The graves are actually 3/10 of a mile from the 2024 / 2022 intersection, south of Slocum, TX on the west side of the hwy. They can be seen from the hwy.

I found the grave and will try to get a photo as soon as the sun comes up.

I have not visited the site but I'm pretty sure where it is at. I'm not on good terms with the owner so I'm not sure how he would respond to me wanting to traverse his property. The next time I drive that route I'll measure the 5/10 of a mile on 2022 and get a gps reading. Contact me directly at dixie24 at valornet.com if you are interested.
I knew about the graves for years but just found the names yesterday in an old county burial record.
|Charles E. Carroll||James F. Rogers|
I found an old cemetery record that lists the location of the burial of James, the husband of Ellen Andrews. I see from your note they may be your relations. I linked James to Ellen.
|Larry Mabra||Henry D Barber|
Thanks for transferring Henry's memorial to me. I appreciate it very much.
|John Davis||Jesse Hamilton Bunch|
It's interesting to note that the fifth wife of Jesse Hamilton Bunch (Dicie N Hickman) was enumerated in 1880 as "B.C.Bunch". But that must have been Dicie, because she lived on to 1933 and is buried in the same Groves Cemetery as Jesse, I assume close to one another.
|Judy Mount||Dungan Photos|
Lesa, Do you mind if I copy your Dungan photos to my family tree and myfamily.com site? I wanted to make sure before I did so. All of the Dungans are my ancestors and these photos are wonderful. I appreciate your dedication to this wonderful project of photographing them because it is already too late for some of them to be read caused by the weather conditions. People all over the world are preserving them on film. Thank you for being one of them. Judy Mount
|Terry Rasberry||Rasberry transfers|
Sorry for the delay in thanking you for the Rasberry family transfers. I appreciate it very much!
Would you please transfer to me all the Rasberry family members at Walnut Grove?
