I was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived there for the first seventeen years of my life. The only grave I ever visited was my grandfather; he died in 1960. I didn't know that, within view of his grave, just accross the street, was the unmarked grave of my older brother. The Viet Nam War, and my part as a medic from age 17, put me in contact with many more graves and the people who would visit them. |
I am now a retired Police Officer living in Fairborn, Ohio. I have been an Evidence Tech (now called CSI), Forensic Photographer and Death Investigator during my career and I suppose I'm still doing those things now - as a hobby.
Darlene and I had to put Cherry Grove Cemetery in Xenia, OH on 'standby' and are working in Rockafield Cemetery on the campus of Wright State University. This old pioneer cemetery has been expanded to include donors to their Anatomical Gift Program and the records that I've been given go back to 1970. It will be a busy winter for us but we are not even half-way done with photographing the memorial bricks that line the walkway through the cemetery.
We are still working on finding the graves of soldiers in the USCT and the 54th and 55th Massachusetts Infantry who are buried in Greene Co., OH but this is mostly book-work now.
Any 'grave photographs' I have taken are public domain; copy them and use them as you please.
*TRANSFERS: Most of the memorials that I have posted are not related to me, they are projects that I have taken-on. I believe that ANY relative should be able to take over management of these graves. Just ask me.

|Daniel Maxwell||RE: Duplicate Cemetery|
Yours don't appear to have errors beyond extra data some other people added to the 'other' cemetery's versions.
Go ahead and transfer them except for the Colored Troops ones (didn't realize they had any in that cemetery; I know the cemetery on Tarbox Cemetery Road has a few though), and I will sort them out.
Looks like they've merged the cemeteries into 'Baptist Cemetery' already. Now I guess the memorials need to be merged. Many of them are yours so I don't know how you want to do it.
|Daniel Maxwell||RE: Duplicate Cemetery|
Yes, that is what I said in the merge message I left on the F-A-G board, that 'Baptist Cemetery' seemed to be the correct name, though I said please put 'Old Baptist Cemetery' as an alternate name since I could find many genealogical sites that referred to it as that (and we don't want someone making another dup of it!).
Yeah it isn't about numbers; I was about to do some photo requests when I happened to see this. I also gave the GPS coordinates so people see it is the same cemetery. I only have a couple of photos for that cemetery so it isn't like I have a ton of credits for it anyway. I'll keep an eye on it and make sure the merge goes smoothly - I wanted to do a complete inventory of that cemetery anyway.

I am not sure if you're the one who created it, but since most of the memorials seem to be yours I just wanted to tell you that the 'Baptist Cemetery' in Cedarville that you took pictures for already had an entry on Findagrave:
Here is the one that you were taking photos for:
Ironically, I think 'Baptist Cemetery' is the correct name. I've put in a request for these cemeteries to be merged. You'll note that the memorials are the same.
Thank you so much.

Wayne, thank you so much for providing me with info about Rockafield, and for posting the 'markers' for Norman Earl and Virginia Amon.

Hi Wayne - Follow up to let you know Calvary verified Eugene's ashes were indeed interred on 9 March 2012. I also mentioned Rockafield, in a slim chance Calvary might have something in their files about it, but they don't. Good luck with your meeting next week.
