trying to stay ahead of developers who want to cover historical markers... and the weather, time and vandals that obscure the inscriptions... to honor those that walked before us.|
Although I visit cemeteries whenever I travel (to the dismay of others in the car), most of my work is in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York's lower Hudson Valley and Washington State's Skagit County.
Whenever possible, I post a photo--a photo makes it real. I also try to list the sources I've used to stitch together family relations or any info that I might find. I will not link to those who are listed as burial location unknown.
Thank you in advance for sending in corrections or additions using the Edit button. I appreciate your updates very much. Although I try to thank and acknowledge all corrections, I may not always have the time. Edits posted in the message area below will be ignored and deleted.
I transfer direct relatives within three generations (that means: your siblings, parents, grandparents, children, and grandchildren). As Richard H so aptly puts it:
"... someone who died 200 years ago could be related to thousands of people." Please use the virtual cemetery feature to group your family memorials.
My activity is seasonal--I use the New England winters to create new memorials with the images I've collected the rest of the year. There are several thousand waiting to be processed...

Thanks for your kind words. I have searched as well and have found nothing. I don't believe that the obituary was the correct Alice, but thanks for your help! If and when I find something, I will notify Find A Grave.

I saw that you left a message for my friend, Alice LaRue, requesting her to speak to a photographer about not using shaving cream (or anything else) on headstones. I agree, but I just wanted to let you know that Alice has not been online for about a year now.
I have no idea what has happened to her, as she has not responded either through this site or personal e-mails in a year. I'm thinking that she has either lost computer capabilities to be online or has passed away. Sadly, I fear it is the latter.
I didn't want you to think that Alice was just ignoring you...

In reviewing my sources I found you posted 3 other photos I would like to use in my genealogy. They are:
Daniel Cooke Memorial# 102676530
Emerline Richardson Avery Memorial# 108287444
Christopher Avery Memorial # 102720691
May I ask for permission to use the above listed photos? Again this book will not be for resale but the printer will be using it as samples to demonstrate their ink jet printing technology.

Also, the James Horton I have photos of is James W. Horton not James L. Horton. All other info is the same. Is the James W. Correct?

|Mindy||Horton grave requests|
I was at Greenwood trying to find my ancestors and saw the Horton family close by. I will post what I have, James W. Horton, James S. Horton, Mary Gamble Horton, Edwin and Sarah. There were also three small headstones with no names that I think go with the Hortons as they were similar material and at the end of them. One said "aunty" on top, one said "grand" on the top and the third was illegible. I could send these to you if you want but am unsure if and or what memorial they would go to. Also, the tall monument has writing on two sides with all their dates so will add those. Write if you have questions.

Thanks so much for your response! I have submitted a photo request. Hope your week is going well!
|Katherine Ludwig||Asa Porter in Horse Meadow|
You posted a memorial for Asa Porter in Horse Meadow Cemetery in North Haverill Mass (Find A Grave Memorial# 86410146).
There is no photo of the grave marker posted with the memorial, and I was wondering if that meant there was no marker?
I have a friend who is writing a bio of Asa Porter, and would love to see a photo of his grave. Your profile reads that you usually post a photo if there is a marker, but I wanted to check with you before requesting a photo.
Many thanks for your help!
May I have your permission to use your photo of Nathaniel Avery's tombstone in my genealogy. This book will not be for resale but may be used by a printer as a sample of their work for their customers and at trade shows and the copies I receive will be given to various family members. I of course would give you create for the photo.
