RE: Daniels-McDaniels Cemetery
Thank you Peter for the directions. I was able to visit the cemetery and the new owners. I want to get in touch with the local BSA office to see if one of the scouts might be able to clean it up as part of an Eagle Scout project.

Josiah Kneeland - Civil War

Hello Peter,

I haven't had any more luck in finding a gravestone for Josiah M. Kneeland. Lately I have noticed quite a few gravestones for "UNKNOWN U.S.SOLDIER" in cemeteries I have visited... such as Salsbury Cemetery and Old Village Cemetery in Canaan, Somerset County, Maine.
There are sections in Mount Pleasant Cemetery and adjacent Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta for Civil War soldiers... but they are mainly for soldiers FROM Augusta, Maine who served.

I see you added photos to his memorial. They are not from Augusta, Maine... it would be less confusing those viewing them if you explain in the caption WHERE they were taken. [A bit strange that they have a Civil War memorial shaped like a computer monitor]

I am transferring the memorial back to your care.

Sincerely, Tim Cooper

Hello Peter,
Many thanks for your time and effort in photographing our dear friend's headstone. We moved away from the cold winters in Newmarket and it's been over 5 years since we have visited Jonathan Earle's resting place. It is warming to see the spring pansies in bloom, that his wife plants each year.
Regards, Louise
