A Texan's family tree is like a beautiful rose with many fragrant petals, but with any rose, you have thorny branches that needs pruning on occasion....the same goes with families.
Beatitudes of the Family Genealogists:

Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time. Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof. Blessed are the grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this our heritage. Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For some, this is their only link to the past. Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember. Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them who owe the family history. Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love. Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."written by Unknown;

RE: Wesley Francis Wright #5133512

I helps a great deal, thanks. The Wright lines have been worked up by my grandfather and I have the information in storage. He wanted to make sure that his descendants had the information in case they wanted it. That is why I am keeping it safe per his wishes.

Nancy, I was wondering if in your research you have ever ran across a H. R. or "Hut" White? He is my brick wall that I have been trying to find for umpteen years.

I have found an article of her death, and the only way to save it is in a photo. The Laurel Chronicle, Jan. 21, 1910. Would you like for me to post it or send it to you?

RE: Hi, I am kin to the Louie Forest Scales family
Hi Nancy...I not only am kin to the Witherspoon line, but Louie Scales was my grandmother Eula Scales Harkins' brother. That said, I don't know about Mary G. Witherspoon. I am sorry. But my daughter may have info on her since she is on If I find out from her, will let you know. I guess you have checked my Witherspoon family graves I sponsor and have found nothing.
Hope you have success in your endeavor!

Faulk land in Wood/Upshur Counties
Hi Nancy, I am descended from William R. Willingham. He came to Upshur County in 1861 and died shortly after he returned from the Civil War as well as his wife. He bought 325 acres. The land was sold by his heirs to JW Faulk and then 1/5 was sold to JM Green and 4/5 was sold to Phillip Marion Faulk. After his death the land was heired by the nine children of PM Faulk. I understand that the area that held the Faulk home is owned by descendents of Richard Webb Faulk. I tell you this only because my sister and I came out and found the area, but didn't have the nerve to go up to any of the houses. I ask you if you could get me permission just to walk on the land, and visit with a descendent that still lives there. My grand father was raised by our Surratt and Davis relatives as were his older two brothers and sister. My grandfather married my grandmother in the big town of Big Sandy in 1889. My Dad was born in Oklahoma but returned to Big Sandy with his mother at the age of two when his dad died. I live in Upshur County at Coffeeville. Sherry {Willingham] Jumper
