Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired university teacher and librarian with interest in Civil War burials and burial practices. Also undertaking to photograph all cemeteries in Erath County, TX, and surrounding counties, then to enter the tombstone information into the database. Many older tombstones are in such shape as to be illegible, so corrections to bad or missing biographical information is welcomed.

Please make requests for additions, corrections, links, etc., directly from the memorials' "edit" feature rather than here. I'll get to them much faster. (Transfers to direct descendants, please, and not in bulk lots!)

I'm new to this group and not sure what you are suggesting. That photo is of one of the entries to the cemetery, but there are also photos of the headstones as well as those of my parents' cremations at the foot of my grandmother.

48th Alabama Inf
Just started researching my family and found that my 3rd great grandfather was William Haynes Partain. He served in the 48th and was home on furlough when the surrender happened. He passed in 1915 and was buried in Texas.

Thank you for creating a pictorial memorial for my great uncle. He never married and was a post WWI casualty from injuries sustained during combat.
Erath County is an epicenter for my Grandmother's family history, so thank you again for caring enough to document those wonderful old cemeteries!

Skillman Family
Ken - so which Skillman's did you know and where do you live? I am a Skillman descendant, my grandmother was Exie Myrtle Skillman. I am searching for death information on my great-grandfather John Benjamin Skillman, my last known documentation on him is his Civil War Pension Card from August 1890. If you have information or any Skillman contacts please let me know. Thank you, Claudia

I had looked for Dorothy Louise Roberts Moxley and Sam William Moxley on Find A Grave and could not find them so this year I added them to the Cemetery Listing. They have been added as Sam William Moxley Find A Grave Memorial# 145901709 and Dorothy Louise Moxley Find A Grave Memorial# 145901428. Now today your addition has come up.
You have then listed as Sam W. Moxley Find A Grave Memorial# 31849705 and Dorothy L. Moxley Find A Grave Memorial# 31849704.
I am sorry that it was put in double but I would like to request that the memorial be given to me. Dorothy's mother and my mother were sisters and our fathers were brothers. We were brought up together and she is more like a sister than cousin. Please contact me at nemopost@sbcglobal.net
Thank you, Jeanetta
