What upsets me are the 'don't copy' people with poor quality pictures. If you're so proud of them make sure they're perfect. One of my pet peeves are the headstones that the photographer did not even bother to clean the debris and leaves off to make the headstone readable. Come on, it's a small thing to do. Yes, I've spent, time, gas and had many aches and pains to take pictures but I don't believe that gives me the right to deny the use of my pictures (especially for family trees) since a majority of the time I'm not related. I'll transfer any memorial I've created except the ones related to me personally or to an unknown burial. Unknown burials should not even be on this website. I'm disturbed by the FAG guidelines of transfer and that some members are so hardcore about them. I have a great-aunt and an uncle that had no children and a member will not transfer them to me even though they manage over 75,000 memorials and are not related. Guess numbers mean more to some people. Use a little common sense people.

One thing I do ask is PLEASE do not put death certificates on any memorial I have created. Death certificates are often incorrect as to birth dates and burial location.

My daughter and I are researching African American WWI Veterans in many East Texas counties. I would love to hear from any family members of these forgotten heroes. The counties are Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Chambers, Cherokee, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Gregg, Hardin, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Lamar, Liberty, Marion, Montgomery, Morris, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Rains, Red River, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Smith, Trinity, Tyler, Upshur, Van Zandt, Walker and Wood. We started with one county and it has mushroomed to 43, identifying over 11,000 (so far). My daughter, Dr. Lila Rakoczy, is on the Texas WWI Centennial Commission and organizing a WWI traveling African American WWI memorial wall to visit several venues for 2017/2018/19.
