Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching some of the 36,000 + Army Air Forces personnel who died in the line of duty, of non-combat causes during the World War II era in service-related accidents. It is said that more
than 15,500 Army airmen were killed in airplane accidents between 1941 and 1946, within the borders of the U.S. and it's territories. They gave their all and died in the service of their country, but received no purple hearts and virtually no mention in the history books and have largely been forgotten by time.

I have taken photos of probably more than 10,000 names in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines, but I do not have time to upload them. Anyone willing to volunteer to upload some of them is appreciated. If you would like to know some statistics about the cemetery, click on my photo I display here.

For corrections, additions, or requests for transfer of memorial, please use the Edit tab, and select Suggest a Correction or Provide Additional Information to make any update requests. It is much easier to handle the issue this way, rather than a personal message.

I am happy to update any memorial, including family links. But I DO NOT like adding census information, copies of death certificates and please do not add long obituaries to the "photo" area. The information can be condensed and pasted into the bio area. If you don't have the time to type out the obituary, just email it to me. I will add it and give you credit for finding it.
I appreciate any information that can "round out" someone's bio.

I deleted mine. Did you happen to add yours from a burial unknown. I usually work from 2 screens and avoid dupes.

Tim,

I just looked at my grandfather's memorial page and saw the details that you added regarding his Army Air Corps accident. You are doing a true service by adding these men.

It boggles my mind that they were forgotten as to any recognition. My grandfather was killed two months before my father was born, so our family only knows of him through pictures and stories.

Even sadder was recently obtaining the declassified flight "accident" report of his death and others at George Field. He and the pilot, Irving Johnson were sent up at night with no instructor the evening of the accident. Between the two of them, they had only a little over 2 hours of night flight time under their belts. Less than 10 seconds after takeoff Lt. Johnson was dead and my granddad mortally wounded.

I would be honored to help you load more pictures and/or set up memorials after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tim, I added my photo to your memorial for James Kiernan, and sent an edit to Rita Osborne to remove her duplicate. She has used a spreadsheet to enter memorials at the 3 Catholic Cemeteries, and has made many many duplicates because she didn't check first to see if a memorial was already up.
