I actively research many family lines, some of which are represented by the memorials I maintain. My family ties are Dahlberg, Lind, Hope, Dorsey, Thompson, Reynolds, Mayfield and Story among others.

I would love to hear from anyone who has a correction or addition to the memorials I maintain. I would also love to hear from you if you are related.

RE: James A. Harris
Brenda,
James A. Harris, born October 26, 1858 and died December 26, 1903, is buried in Drive 1, Section 3, Lot 0395. Also buried in that lot are Hallie D. Gibson (an infant 1901-1902) and M. N. Grider, (birth unknown-died December 14, 1925). I have no idea if they are related.

I believe that this James A. Harris is the James Alexander Harris born October 26, 1858 that is the brother of Mary Catherine Harris 'Kate' Givens. The 1880 Federal Census for Beat 2, Mississippi (Union County) shows James Harris, age 21, born in Mississippi; living with his uncle, R. W. Dorsey, age 40, born in Mississippi; and his aunt, L. C. Dorsey, age 39, born in Mississippi. Also living in the household were Lulu Dorsey, age 9 (daughter); and J. Harris, age 14 (niece); both born in Mississippi. The census is dim and hard to read so I might have misread something.

Kate was buried in Drive 2, Section 3, Lot 0401. Kate's mother and father, William H. Harris and Martha Caroline Dorsey, are buried in Mississippi, and Kate is linked to them as well as her two sisters, Amanda Louise and Joanna Eudora. Kate also had a brother named Charles Emrey Harris (1874-1936) that is on memorial 15487626 but not linked to his parents. He may have had a different mother than Kate. There was also a brother, William W. Harris, born November 22, 1871 in Union County, Mississippi.
I don't have anything else. Timeless

Hi. I know that was not your intention for me to transfer but I am a complete stranger so I wanted you to have that page. Pages should belong to relatives or people that are connected to these people. I know her page will be in good care :)

You are very welcome. I was born in Durant, and even though I no longer live there, I have a special place in my heart for the town and a great many relatives in Highland Cemetery. I go there three or four times a year if there is something you would like me to do on your behalf.

I have the cemetery records. Katie and Samuel Givens are buried in Drive 2, Section 3, Lot 0401. Also buried on that lot are: William Madison Givens, Audrey Jewell McMaster, Charles Noah McMaster, and Charles N McMasters Jr (note the addition of an S to his surname).

Lula J. Tackett is buried in Drive 2, Section 3, Lot 405, which obviously is very close to Katie and Samuel et al. Also buried in this lot are:
Hattie L. Tacket, Joe B Tacket, Susan A. Tacket, David W. Tackett, Audra J. Davis, Clifford L. Davis, Elizabeth J. Sharp, and Minnie Bell Stricklen. As you know, there may be more than one family who bought spaces on this lot, and I have no clue which ones might be part of your family.

Thanks much for bringing the WWI draft info to my attention. I'm certain that this is William Madison Givens based on the birthdate. I also found him with his parents in 1910. It looks like his father died in 1913, and I don't know his mother's maiden name. Was her name Mary Catherine with a nickname of Katie? Hope to hear from you again. Happy New Year.

Brenda - Thank you for the additional information. I am not related, and have transferred care of her memorial to you. Sorry, for the delay in doing this - we were out of town for the Thanksgiving Holiday. If you have any other relatives in the Kemp cemetery, please let me know, and I will be happy to transfer those as well.

Marie
