Question of Cemetery
Hi,
I'm interested in you entry for Alice M. Green died 5/8/1951. You have her buried at Oakridge-Glen Oak cemetery in Hillside, IL. May I ask where you obtained this info? I was there and there is no such Section of TSA located there. I went to the cemetery looking for this grave and it is NOT there. Again, where did you get the information?

Thank you sir for posting my gr-grandmother's photo.

I noticed there was not a date of death posted. I am fairly certain she passed away on Jan 28, 1952.

Czenkusch graves
Karoline and John (Johann) Czenkusch are buried in Riverview cemetery, across the street in South Bend, Indiana, from the City Cemetery (for which you have photo requests). Their memorials are 138578606 and 138578625. Just fyi!

RE: Faith Rendall Giles
Thanks!

I was aware of how she died although the circumstances I know differ a little from yours. I've made notes and will hunt down the details when I can. Faith was married originally to Alexander Nielson who was born in Hawaii in 1881 and rose through the SA ranks to be in charge of one of the islands, probably Kauai before his unexpected death. Faith's son had sent me the following explanation of her death:

[Faith Rendall Nielson and Frederick Giles were married on August 16, 1938 in San Francisco.  When they retired from the Salvation Army, they were touring the US before going to Australia.  They took advantage of being near relatives in Minnesota and went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.  They were staying at a rooming house, dedicated to patients of the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester when it caught fire.   They, and others died from smoke inhalation.  They were buried together in a Salvation Army plot in a cemetery near Chicago.  I can provide dates and the name of the cementery if you require them.

Faith & Fred were buried Jan 6 1946 in the Glen Oak Cemetery, Chicago, IL  My wife Mae and I visited the graves when we were traveling after retirement.  The headstones for them read: "Missionary to the Philippines" which is wrong.  Fred was but not my mom.]

I'm not sure why they were seeking out the Mayo Clinic although it's in my notes I think, somewhere. In any case, another set of stories to rectify. :)

Thanks again

Faith Rendall Giles
Hi,

Faith Giles in Oakridge-Glen Oak Cemetery is my grand aunt. I'd like permission please to copy her headstone photo to my Ancestry tree (along with her husband's Ernest Giles)?

I'm curious about the source for the image of her as well. Is it from a public source? Is her image cropped from a larger image? She was in Hawaii with my grand uncle until his death in 1932 and I've never seen her in a dark uniform.

Thanks for adding their information.

Vida Moffatt
Thank you so much for posting the headstone photo for Brig. Vida Moffatt. She was my grandmother's much loved cousin. I have uploaded a picture of her. Vida May Moffatt left Canada, and her family, in about 1924, serving in the US Salvation Army in many capacities including as an assistant in the SA Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI (1930 census)and a "social advisor" at the SA Women's Home and Hospital in Chicago (1940). She was born in Tottenham, Ontario on September 10, 1891, the daughter of William James and Mary Jane (Leithwood) Moffatt. She trained with the Salvation Army in Clinton, Ontario in 1911. She lived at Coxwell and Gerard in Toronto's east end where her father ran a grocery store.
